2022 has been an adventure for me in books with new authors, new stories, and some truly loved genres. I picked my favorites based on a few criteria: how memorable, how surprising, and of course, something that truly touched me. This year I have read about 220 books, about 73 of them were arcs reads, and the rest were series I have picked up based on interest, advertisements, or the top list on amazon. This list is in no uncertain order, but I classify the books as must-read books. Here is a look at my year in books. Want to check out what I read? I have picked books or series that mostly fall into the two main genres I read Contemporary and Paranormal Romance. I stumbled upon only one series that I couldn’t classify as it boggled my mind, but I loved it all the more.
Top Reads for 2022.
- Dark Legacy The Complete Series by Tate James and Jaymin Eve.

This book series totally blew my mind. It was dark, and it was gritty. I loved the characters. It was really the only one I couldn’t classify into my genres, but it was memorable, surprising, and so addictive. I hope you check out my review and grab this must-read book.
Paranormal
2. Taken by Fate by Shannon Mayer

This book surprised me with a futuristic paranormal fantasy story. I love vampire romance, but because this book had an old-world charm with a “Hunger Games” storyline and much chemistry between the main characters, I’m itching to get my hands on the next book.
3. Filthy Rich Vampires and Filthy Rich Vampires: Second Rite by Geneva Lee Albin

This series immediately caught my attention. I didn’t know I needed Julian and Thea until I began reading, but this series is like “Twilight” for adults. I love that the author is writing it on Kindle Vella and then publishing it on Kindle for those who like to read the entire book at once. I can’t get enough of these must-read books with cliffhanger endings and emotional and steamy scenes, and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. Geneva has a number of books and is currently working on the third Filthy Rich Vampires Book on Kindle Vella you can check it out here. If your like me and prefer the entire book finished you can preorder Filthy Rich Vampires: Three Queens.
4. BlackWater Pack Series by Hannah McBride

I admit I didn’t read the whole series of these books. Still, the first three books captivated my attention with a memorable plot, a damaged mc, and a weak to strong character that hit all the spots for my paranormal addiction. The books stood out with the dark themes, the new adult romance, and the action-packed adventure.
5. Sun Touched by Becky Moynihan

I loved this book, the curvy female heroine, the mystery/suspense, and the overall tropes. This book was different from others, and it really stood out. I was captivated by the Who done it? I loved Isla and Kade’s story and how the main characters were opposites but still had so much angst. I love that this story differs from other vampire romance fiction I have read. It is exhilarating, swoon-worthy, and addicting.
Contemporary Romance
6. Crush in the Cascades by Lisa S. Gayle

This book was actually an arc book that I received, and it surprised me with the fantastic story within the pages. I loved the concept behind the story and the overall plot as well. It was funny, steamy, and quite adventurous as this couple navigated a game show, feelings, and reality. You will love this book if you love an excellent sappy “Hallmark” movie. I highly encourage you to read this one for a style change and a story that might leave you craving adventure.
7. The Last Eligible Billionaire by Pippa Grant

This book was laugh-out-loud funny. I loved the billionaire plot line, the outrageous banter, and the romantic comedy. I remember the feelings this book gave me more than the actual storyline. I also remember I wasn’t about to read it at night as I woke up the family laughing at the hilarious plot and comments. This book is a must-read because everyone should experience the laugh-out-loud comedy.
8. Once Upon a Royal Christmas by Teri Wilson

This was the most memorable and perfect book for the holiday season. I loved the fairytale aspects, the romance, and all the vibes. I recommend you pick up this feel-good romance and add it to your tbr. This book is a must-read because everyone should get to escape to a picturesque country and enjoy the fairytale romance.
9. Survival Instinct (Cerberus Tactical K9 Book 1) by Fiona Quinn

I really enjoyed this unexpected story. I loved how the author portrayed her characters and told this story. The book itself is emotional, swoony, and inspiring. This book was a very different read for me, but one I truly enjoyed. Give it a chance and grab this must-read book. I loved that it dealt with military grieving, an adventure that went wrong, and a strong male hero.
10. Every Deep Desire by Sharon Wray

Sometimes a book stays with you; that’s the case with this one. This book is Juliet and Rafe’s story, a complicated, twisted romantic suspense with many surprising moments and unexpected action scenes. I was so enraptured by the plot and history that it became unforgettable. I truly fell in love with the historical information, fact, or fiction; the legends, stories, and plot were captivating. This is a must-read book, and I look forward to reading more in the series when possible.
