A Touch of Vampire Book 4
A little sun never hurt anyone . . . unless you’re me.
Ever since I was turned into a vampire, my private investigator job has been my life. Then my sire, Kade Carmichael, crashes back into it. I try to shake him, but he has other plans.
When I’m asked to investigate a homicide case, Kade manages to make himself my partner. The more time I’m forced to spend with him, the harder it is to deny feelings I thought were long buried.
To make matters worse, a mysterious stalker is obsessed with exposing me as the murderer. Soon, not only is my career at stake, my very life is.
Kade might be the only one who can help me, but that means letting him in. And losing my life doesn’t scare me nearly as bad as risking my heart.
My Review
This paranormal vampire romance began differently from others. I loved the mystery, suspense, and thrilling aspects of the story. The drama in this book is addicting. The characters were fabulous; Isla and Kade are opposites who deal with forced proximity and unrequited feelings, and who did it ?, that will leave you guessing until the end. I loved how the author brought new terminology to this story and a female lead that matured as the story took place. The end of this book is action-packed and fabulous. Some of it is graphic and centered toward a new adult audience. Still, you will love this story if you’re a fan of heroines, swoony Alphas, and mystery. This book takes a spot in my top reads this year.
Kade is still the protective, sweet vampire we know him to be from earlier books in this series, and it seems he might have a crush on Isla, but it has been a while since she had contact with him. Now when she calls, he knows something isn’t right.
We begin the book from Islas’ pov but almost the day before the prologue. Isla is grown up and has been a vampire for a while, but she still gets into trouble. Isla is a private investigator now.
Oh, her real-time relationship with Kade as a sire isn’t that great lots of unexpected emotions between these two. Backed into a corner by her father, this paranormal book has turned into a murder mystery.
Has Isla gone feral? Isla is in deep and getting deeper as she keeps secrets and gets involved in trying to find answers. Kade is with Isla, but only because he loves her and is trying to help her, but she is stubborn.
I love that we get some back history on Kade and how he becomes the vampire he is today. Goodness, the chemistry between Kade and Isla is hot enough to burn up your kindle. Things get heated as they get deeper into this murder mystery. I love that this story differs from other vampire romance fiction I have read. It is exhilarating, swoon-worthy, and addicting.
I love Islas’s character, mindset, personality, and willpower. Kade is powerful yet serene, a constant source of love and support. His character is a lot deeper in this book. Finally, we get some new adult romance and a mature steamy scene; they have been hitting the bases slowly but eventually went for that home run.
Isla has had many justifiable fears, but Kade soothes them with his trustworthiness. I’m glad she finally embraced what she was running from and confronted her fears.
This gets more intriguing as this murder mystery takes a new turn and new terminology is brought about regarding the paranormal. The setup couldn’t be better and instead inspires some terror and darkness to unravel in this storyline. However, Kade and Isla’s determination for the truth is thrilling. The end of this book is action-packed, like flying thru those last few chapters as these characters fight for what they believe in and each other.
I loved how this book ended. This was a fabulous read and a new spin on a paranormal vampire mystery and romance. I truly hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
This book is part of the A touch of Vampire Series but can be read as a standalone.
