Freeing my wolf could cost me everything . . .
As a natural-born werewolf, I should have shifted years ago. Instead, I’m little more than a human.
Desperate to free my wolf, I leave my pack to seek the aid of a nearby witch coven. But when the meeting goes south, I run. Only to find out they’re hunting me.
There’s no one I can turn to for help, until I meet the devilishly handsome Kolton Rivers. He’s the wealthiest, most powerful alpha in America, leader of the Midnight Pack. But his violent reputation precedes him.
Unfortunately, a single touch from him starts to awaken my wolf.
When he offers me protection, I refuse it. Despite my wolf’s reaction to him, I don’t trust his motives. Then he offers me something I can’t walk away from: help unleashing my wolf.
But his help comes at a price. If he succeeds in setting my wolf free, I must vow to give him something in return.
Me.
My Review
I love that this story expanded into new adult territory with an alpha wolf shifter and some very intimate scenes. This story has some prevalent tropes like fates mates and opposites attract romance. Still, it also has some interesting ones as well, like a marriage of convenience and forced proximity. I didn’t get much connection to the characters, but I enjoyed their stories. Our female character is more of a damaged mc that attracts trouble. I loved the big city and more taboo tropes like knotting, virgin, and heat in the storyline. I look forward to reading more in this series and continuing the journey with Nora and Kolton. This shifter novel will burn up your Kindle.
Nora was born to werewolf parents but has never shifted, not even an inkling of her wolf inside her, so she is breaking all the rules and doing this herself. All she wants is to be a true member of the pack, not their shameful secret or require their protection. She seeks help with an unlikely paranormal since they don’t typically get along. In this case, it isn’t any different. Oh, the rhyming, but it reveals some secrets I’m sure will be necessary to the storyline.
Kolton Rivers is an unexpected complication in her loner plans. He surprises her with sensations, and he is a billionaire Alpha male. I like that he tries to help her. I love Nora’s mental sarcasm and sas. I didn’t expect that trope to appear in the book, but I’m fascinated with the marriage of convenience offer. Kolton and Nora couldn’t be more opposite.
Nora might be a liar but also a drama queen and doesn’t let anyone explain anything. But she is sporadic, funny, and definitely has some spirit. I’m still determining the whole story behind why Nora does what she does or why she thinks the way she thinks, but she does surprise me with her actions. Kole, we may see a softer side of the badass Alpha.
This may be the most detailed book I have read by this author. It has eye-candy descriptions and some very steamy scenes. I love how unfiltered Nora is. She may be a worrier, but she speaks her mind too. The hot scene still has your book pages heating up as they get more intimate. I’m curious how far the author takes the steamy scenes in this paranormal romance. This book so far is way hotter and better described intimately than any other I have read from Becky Moynihan. She is absolutely venturing into new territory with this story.
This book has some memorable moments, which I love in this wolf shifter story. I’m excited to finish it and see what happens. I love that we get her tragic story and a clear look at this damaged mc. However, I enjoyed Kolton going all Alpha-male even more. The tropes are stacking up in this story, but I’m still waiting for them both to admit they love each other. With nothing left to force them apart but themselves, I’m expecting my happily ever after part of this story to begin.
I did not love how this book ended; I just remembered that issue when it came back in the story. This story ends on a cliffhanger, and there is a second part. I need to be more connected to Nora and Kolton, as they aren’t connected to each other at the end of the book.
