What’s worse than having Rider Kingston, the star quarterback, give you the big brushoff because he doesn’t want to get serious? You’d probably think living across the street from him where you get a first-hand view of his hookups, right?
That’s what I thought. Until someone drops off a baby with a note pinned to her blanket that says one of those jocks—either Rider or one of his roommates—is the father. The problem? Baby mama doesn’t mention which of these numbskulls is the sperm donor.
I wouldn’t care about their paternity problems—not the slightest bit—except my brother lives there too. Which means that adorable squawking bundle might be my niece, and there’s no way I’m leaving her unattended with those bumbling football players.
They need my help, even if they don’t know it yet. Once we solve this dilemma and figure out who’s the daddy, I’m out.
I’ll just ignore Rider and those soul-searing looks he gives me every time I reach for the baby. He broke my heart three years ago. He won’t get a second chance.
My Review
This book is mainly from Gabby and Riders’ point of view. Gabby is a texas sweetheart, a college student, responsible to a fault, and not a football lover. She has an interesting outlook on the hit football players across the street and history with one of them.
Rider has a thing for Gabby. He is the quarterback of the local university football team. He wants it as his ticket out of this town and into fame. He and the team must focus. A baby in the mix makes this story exciting and unique, not another college romance.
Gabby is feisty. She has a sad backstory, but she is intelligent, sassy, and strong. That is one hell of a surprise for a football player. This book does eventually get steamy as they fall into the fantastic chemistry between them. Things get really super sweet in this book as Rider finally pulls his head out of his behind, sees what’s right in front of him, and accepts Gabriela. But then their world gets turned upside down. The hits just keep coming for both Gabriela and Rider. Will this couple. Make it thru the stress of their lives, or will they crumble like their dreams seem to be?
Grand gestures and communication go along away, and this book doesn’t disappoint on the ending. Rider is finally competent and doesn’t miss out on his happily ever after.
This book was a fabulous friends to lovers sports romance. I enjoyed the extra drama the author threw into the storyline. I also enjoyed the surprises and how it incorporated things that aren’t always in a college romance. Rider was really a hot, swoony jock, but he had an excellent soft side that really came out in this story. I loved the camaraderie of the team in the house and with their neighbors. This was a fantastic read about a couple who needed to find themselves before they found each other, but they got stronger when the going got tough. Yes, there are heartbreaking moments in this book, and there are subjects that may be difficult. For some to read but overall, the author did an excellent job of embracing forgiveness.
