What would you do if you had twenty minutes alone with your idol?
Gemma Fox is a self-confessed unlucky-in-love geek treating herself to a weekend at a pop-culture convention on Australia’s sunny Gold Coast.
Drawn there by the temptation of seeing her celebrity crush, Everett Rhodes, the last thing she expects is to wind up trapped in an elevator with him. Parting ways, Gemma has no reason to suspect that their paths will cross again. After all, he’s a celebrity. She’s just a fan who lives on the other side of the planet.
Besides, her life is not a rom-com. (At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.)
However, life has other plans. And Everett -stupidly charming, frustratingly handsome Everett- is hard to resist.
But when things get complicated, Gemma and Everett are both faced with the same dilemma:
How can they make things work when they live in completely separate worlds?
My Review
This contemporary romance doesn’t disappoint; it was sweet, tear-jerking, and had an awesome male in it who will make you swoon. This romance wasn’t as impractical as others. Instead, the couple had to deal with real-life issues and events that kept them apart. I love how this story progresses, and the author includes a happy ending to the turmoil. This was story a fantastic read.
Gemma rush into her idol in a hotel elevator. She wishes she was smooth, but instead, she is funny and starstruck. She is at the Gold Coast in Australia for Pop Con. Everett Rhodes, a Hollywood star, is sharing her elevator and floor, and she is trying not to fangirl on him.
The banter as they are stuck in the elevator together is fabulous. Banter becomes awkward and flirty as they interact more at the hotel and out to eat. Swooning over this hot celebrity has her second-guessing his motives. She wants him, but she can’t deny the company when offered. This book is mainly from her point of view, but conversations make sense.
One thing leads to another, and somehow he convinces her to be his tour guide and stay in his room. He is a smooth, famous, and hot, poor girl; she imagines all sorts of romantic fantasy. This book gets steamy finally as they can’t resist the magnetic attraction to each other, but they are from different worlds. There is no way they could work out as a couple.
Oh, this book gets a big surprise; poor guy gets his world rocked. I admire Everett’s determination; despite the knowledge given to him at the last minute, he truly stepped up instead of running away. This book becomes teary as the couple must live apart due to life and responsibilities. This bookending is so sweet and with some steamy scenes.
