Kenzie has always been passionate about writing and storytelling. She describes herself as a curious author who loves exploring and traveling. As part of her writing process, she loves immersing herself in her projects–diving headfirst into the research, production, and fine-tuning of the stories she feels are most worth telling. She is an Indie Author who has recently published her first book Chasing Sedona (St. Augustine University Series Book 1).

Question 1 When did you start writing?
My first memory of writing was in fourth grade. My teacher had us write little books with words and pictures that she would bind together for us. I have recently found some in boxes, which were fun to look through! As an adult, I took a creative writing class with Christine Harding-Thornton (who is an author, herself) and fell in love with creative storytelling. After the class was completed, I didn’t pursue it much anymore until after we lost our daughter in August 2020. As a coping mechanism I started to write in a blog about our loss and then gravitated toward creative writing again. There’s no turning back now!
Question 2 What comes first, the plot or characters?
I usually have a very general idea of where I want the plot to go, but after I develop my characters I let them guide some of the plot as well. Chasing Sedona went a completely different way in my mind, but as I continued to write it veered off to where it is now!
Question 3 How many books have you written? Which is your favourite?
I have written 2 and am working through number 3 now. I’m really loving the characters in book 3, but I don’t know that I can pick a favorite yet!
Question 4 Where do you get your inspiration?
From my family. My daughter passed away in August 2020 and I draw a lot of inspiration from her memory and the grief from her loss.
Question 5 Can you share with us something about the book that isn’t in the blurb?
One of the big plot points in this story involves a paternity test! You’ll have to read to find out who it belongs to! 😉

Question 6 Tell us about the process for coming up with the cover.
When I started writing, I wanted to make it a very clean romance with little to no sexual contact between the characters, so when I thought about the cover, I really wanted to have characters that weren’t immediately sexualized. I worked with Antonette at Teased by Antonette and she’s FANTASTIC! I gave her some things I was looking for and she was able to make my vision a reality.
Question 7 Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with your readers about?
I am currently working on Resisting Avanna (Book #2) and Teaching Kennedy (Book #3)! Resisting Avanna is currently with the editor and I’m hopeful to have a release date decided on here within the next few weeks. Through book #2 the reader will be able to fill in some gaps about the tragic accident that Eagle and Payson went through their sophomore year of college.

Question 9 What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love to spend time with my family! I have younger brothers that are active in sports and a wild three year old that occupies most of my time.
Question 10 Share something your readers wouldn’t know about you.
I have a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies and was a probation officer for six years before quitting to focus more on writing and mental health!
