Question 1 If you could pick one thing to remove/change from any of your books or book, what would it be?
In my 5-book new adult series, which I wrote YEARS ago, I’d like to change all of the newbie writer mistakes in them.
She is referring to her Circle of Friends Series, which is available on Amazon.
Question 2 What part of the book was the most fun to write?
The main battle at the end was a lot of fun. And it was a major pivotal point in the story.
About In Darkness: The Vampire
Question 3 What is the significance of the title?
In Darkness is the main title, and it refers to those hiding in darkness, whether it be literal, emotional, etc. These are all people/creatures who need light in their lives. The subtitle, The Vampire, refers to the main creature we encounter.
Question 4 If you’re planning a series, can you share a tiny bit about your plans for it
This is indeed a series of novellas. The Vampire is the first. Next up will be The Shark. (And SO many readers are really curious about that one!) Then The Werewolf, The Alien, and possibly The Ghost. Once I have wrapped it up, there will also be a print book with all the stories.
Question 5 What’s your favorite spot to visit in your own country? And what makes it so special to you?
I’m going to have to name two. In my home state, downtown Wilmington is the best. It has more restaurants and pubs per square mile than any other city in America, plus there are many places to shop. We always stay downtown and just walk everywhere. My second pick would be Orlando, Florida. We LOVE Universal Studios, which has so many great rides, including The Minion Ride. (I am a HUGE Minions fan. Half of my office is covered in Minions.) We also love Sea World, which has my favorite roller coaster, Manta, a flying coaster.
Question 6 What’s your favorite writing snack or drink?
I don’t usually snack while writing, but I like a good tea spot while writing. Love herbal or Earl Grey. Always hot – summer or winter, it doesn’t matter.
Question 7 If your book were made into a movie, which actors would play your characters?
I can picture a younger (perhaps just before LOTR: Return of the King) Sean Bean as Victor. For Anna, a young Felicity Jones (from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) would fit the bill.
Question 8 What was your favorite song while writing this book? Do you have a playlist I can share?
Usually, I do! For whatever reason, I have neither a playlist nor a song attached to this story.
Question 9 Describe your writing space?
I have a giant L-shaped desk with a hutch on one side. It sits facing the door, and most of my writing is on my desktop computer. The room is lined floor to ceiling on one side with Minions and generally full of books, shelves, etc., everywhere else. I also have a sticker on my computer – “My spirit animal is Godzilla.”
Question 10 What advice do you have for writers/authors?
Read and write. Repeat, repeat, repeat. And ALWAYS have critique partners at your level and above. NO ONE can self-edit well.
Question 11 If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?
My Bible and my husband!
Question 12 If you could compare yourself with any animal, which would it be and why?
Hammy the Squirrel (from Over the Hedge.) I am always go-go-go. And get an energy drink in me…I’m deadly!
