My Review
This paranormal romance is filled with dark themes and triggers but is well written. I love the author’s inclusion of emotions and feelings in this story. I loved that the characters weren’t perfect. They both had self-esteem issues and internal problems to work through. This is Luke and Johanna’s story, and it is twisted but also a charming vampire romance. I love how this book ended, but I want a happy ending for Mya, maybe in the next book? This story was steamy and angsty, and I loved the plus-size heroine.
I love the playlist the author has included with this book. We begin this book with Luke the day go the battle at the end of the last book. Johanna sacrifices herself by being captured for Luke to survive, and of course, after the fact, he figures out she is his mate.
We see a very vulnerable Luke being eaten by his guilt and feelings. I’m glad he has the support system he does. This book gets twisted as they find her but find other truths. Jhoanna is mentally and emotionally damaged and has had some physical damage; she is not confident and quickly blames herself. Even though she is a powerful witch, she has had such a hard life that she hides away from others, including Luke.
This book gets steamy with hot inter-species mating. Of course, inter-species mating turns into vampire mating as this couple partakes in each other. I wonder if Johanna will keep her powers?
This story gets steamy and angsty, and our heroine gets stronger daily. She truly becomes a better person with the proper love and support, and I love how the book ended.
I wish we had a happy ending for Mya but maybe in the next book.
