My boss is a jerk but when I discovered him clutching his sausage and moaning my name, I made a mistake that I can’t take back.
Emmett Lasker is impossible to work for. He might be model handsome and stupidly wealthy, but he also has it out for me. He’s given me more last-minute and weekend requests than anyone else, ruining any plans I make.
I should quit. And I will. Just as soon as I hit my two-year anniversary and earn out my signing bonus.
But after a particularly awful day at work, a breakup (via text!), and my computer crashing, I’ve had enough! So at 11:59 Friday night, I barge into Emmett’s office to tell him what I really think of him.
Only, that’s not what happens. AT ALL.
There’s something about finding your ridiculously hot boss in a compromising position, moaning your name, that can derail a girl’s best intentions.
And now? I’m pregnant. He wants to “do the right thing” and marry me.
Yeah. That’s never gonna happen.
My Review
This book is a sweet and swoony office romance with a protective billionaire workaholic and a very motivated, intelligent lady who does the unthinkable and ends with the unexpected. The romance is rocky as these intelligent people have trouble admitting faults and communicating. But this story ends happily and is a charming read with a bit of steam, a touch of drama, and a fabulous family.
Amy is stubborn, clever, and hates her boss, but she needs the money to pay off her student loans. Emmett, according to her, is a sadist; he is also a billionaire and a workaholic. We get both povs which are intriguing in this story. I don’t think she meant for that to happen, but this book gets steamy. However, it doesn’t stay there. I like her mantra of discreet and didn’t happen, but we’ll see how that goes.
Okay, that peak into Emmett’s family helps readers understand more about his character. His brothers are a hoot. This book gets complicated and surprising as the scenes go from hate to swoon and from shocking to outrageous in just a short amount of time. I wonder how these intelligent characters will react.
I have to admire Emmett’s morals. In all this, he is definitely a bit like his father. Okay, so he was swoony, and then he kinda messed up. However, hang in there as this book ends well.
