The Complete Evergreen Academy Series
Evergreen Academy was meant to be my fresh start. My hair was on point. My skin was flawless. And now I wore the hell out of my clothes instead of hiding them.
Even running into Ryder hadn’t thrown me. So what that the silver-eyed devil who tormented me for years now ruled my new school with a band of boys everyone called the Knights. The four of them were devastatingly rich, enviously handsome… and heartbreakingly cruel.
But the Evergreen Knights didn’t scare me. I had my own plans and no reason to enter their little world… until one fateful night and a masquerade ball changed everything.
I saw something I shouldn’t have and now I’ve been Marked.
They’ll do everything they can to break me but they don’t know the monsters I’ve faced. They don’t know I’ve been broken before.
If they want to take on Valentina Moon… bring it on.
My Review
This box set includes 4 books in one set they are titled: Marked, Broken, Bound, and Unmasked. I read this Series as a boxed set. This book set is dark. It does contain emotional triggers. The romance for the characters themselves isn’t dark, but the situations they must overcome are. It does have themes of bullying, rape, pedophilia, murder, and sociopathic tendencies. I love how this set of books is all in a single point of view following one main character. The author did a fantastic job on every book containing heart tearing moments, suspense, and deep thoughts from her characters. This was a delightful series to read, even with the dark themes. Each book does contain a cliffhanger so I do recommend reading them as a set.
Marked ( Book 1 )
Wow, the prologue of this first book is graphic. It doesn’t go into much detail about when or where it is a dream, but it is definitely explicit.
We meet Val. She is a non-special kid who has grown up in some pretty crappy circumstances. She is starting a new school at Everest Academy. She thought her past was behind her till she runs into Ryder at the new school. Things are going great, and she is doing her best to avoid trouble and her past. Ryder is a Knight (someone who helps rule the school ). After a crazy Halloween night, all the things she enjoyed go wrong, and the book gets very dark for our main character. She is marked and therefore bullied by the entire school. We don’t really find out the reason till the end of the book but even at that is was a very drastic turn of events.
The Author did a fantastic job of making this book an interesting read even with the dark themes. I admit it gets hard as the reader gets connected to the main character to read thru the intense bullying. However, I loved that she gave her character a purpose a reason to continue on and not give up. Even at the worst moments, the connection to the main character and feeling everything she feels is what makes this read fantastic.
Broken ( Book 2 )
In the second book, she is finally getting adjusted and has a friend back, but she has also revealed that she was raped and had a son. Her friend is super sweet to her even though everyone else’s really isn’t yet. I haven’t seen much romance in this book so far, but it has definitely hit the dark and bully themes. This book takes a turn as she fights back against her bullying, causing them emotional damage by revealing things. But in doing so, she gets closer with the Knights, Ryder, and her future, not being marred by issues caused by others. A lot comes to light in this book happening in her sophomore year. Again not so much on the love, but we do start to see an understanding form between her and the Knights, granted it took a lot of revenge and payback to get to that point.
This book was again a difficult read with the dark themes but it was so interesting how the author interweaved her darkness with the light that is the main character. I enjoeyed how she forged a connection with the Knights and how this book is a huge turning point in the series.
Bound (Book 3 )
The third book is refreshing at first; everything is starting to be back to normal. The Knights have come around and are even being super sweet. The author added a reverse harem romance to the book. This school is still a prestigious pain in the butt, but her friendships are amazing. So many great memories for her and the Knights. However, it takes a spin for the worst as she begins to get blackmailed by an unknown person. The rest of the book is a mix of suspense and romance, and she struggles to live her life and find out who is blackmailing her. Finally, she tells her protectors, but even that doesn’t stop what’s coming.
This book is a catlayst to the end of this high school series lining up the events that will lead us to the end of the mystery included in the story. It is a fantastic read with a protective group of men and a ballsy heroine. I loved how the author kept true to her female character even at times when she is broken she is strong and doesn’t wallow. This story was twisted, full of suspense and love.
Unmasked ( Book 4 )
Oh, the prologue of this book leaves a ton of mystery. This book mixes romance, reverse harem, suspense, and twists I didn’t see coming. This book has to be the best, yet I didn’t see half the story in advance. Valentina and The Knights continue to fight the Spades, notably Ace, bullying her into predicaments to embarrass her. But in the continuation of this crazy story, nothing is simple, and everything is so mixed up. The romance is even crazy with one girl and 4 boys. It is their senior year of high school, and she is determined to find out who the Spades are and take down those who caused her bullying and everything else in the previous books. Many omg moments happen in this book, so many twists and turns. Still, the author does a great job of interweaving happy, normal lives with crazy moments. This book is so twisted and full of suspense, and Valentina unravels the mystery of the history of The Evergreen Academy. She mostly does it to protect herself and those she loves, and many truths come to light in this story.
This book was a fantastic ending to the suspense in this series. The author really brought the story full circle and didn’t just stop as one thing came to light. I loved how deep the suspense and mystery went as well as how determined Val was to resolve the issues she had at this school. The romance was sweet even though I really don’t enjoy the reverse harem themes. I did however enjoy the mystery and suspense wrapped into this story. Yes, this story is full of dark themes but i thought the author did a fantastic job of integrating it without the story feeling like a ton of drama,
This story doesn’t just end in high school with our five lovers but the author continues it on with the same characters into the second series. I can’t wait to read more about our heroine Val and her Knights. The continuation of this is called Somerset University (4 book series) by Ruby Vincent. I loved how she ended one story of suspense and intrigue with the characters and added on with the continuation of their lives and story.
