Blue Moon: The Immortals by Alyssa Noel

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Just as Ever is learning everything she can about her new abilities as an immortal, initiated into the dark, seductive world by her beloved Damen, something terrible is happening to him. As Ever’s powers are increasing, Damen’s are fading—stricken by a mysterious illness that threatens his memory, his identity, his life.

Desperate to save him, Ever travels to the mystical dimension of Summerland, uncovering not only the secrets of Damen’s past—the brutal, tortured history he hoped to keep hidden—but also an ancient text revealing the workings of time. With the approaching blue moon heralding her only window for travel, Ever is forced to decide between turning back the clock and saving her family from the accident that claimed them—or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows weaker each day...

My Review

Ever and Damien’s story continues. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I wanted to read this book, but I had already grabbed it, so I decided to read it and check it out. I hope there is more romance in this book, more on the Ever and Damien, and less on their drama.

This book starts off funny with her learning how to use her physics powers. Their steamy scans are still on hiatus, and she seems to struggle with more than kissing. They are still in high school. There is a lot of past and jealousy in this book that she must get over.

But just when she starts, Damen starts having an episode of strange behavior, almost like he is sick. But immortals don’t get sick. This gets curious. She does find the answers; however, she sacrifices a lot in her quest to save him. I can’t believe how twisted this gets; just as I thought it would be full of teenage drama instead, it is full of life or death drama.

She makes a bunch of wrong choices, which lead to an awful ending. I mean, they do both live, but I wouldn’t say what comes next is living in their immortal romance.

This book was a very young adult paranormal action/ adventure. The characters and maturity of the story were definitely written for a younger audience. What they assumed was a huge deal actually probably wasn’t, and some of the choices were very selfish. This book has a lot of hot and cold relationship drama as well as outside influence drama. I’m not sure I’ll be reading the next one in this series. The book just didn’t have everything I was looking for with the epic paranormal romance.
