Addictively Dark and Seductively Sexy.
Dramatic and full of Suspense that will have you guessing at every turn…
Just who is the King of Afterlife?
Keira is new in town and running from her past. A past that haunts her dreams, that is until a new nightmare takes over them…a tall, dark and sexy one. Her New Boss, Dominic Draven.
Question is, what is the infamous Gothic Nightclub doing in the small town of Evergreen Falls and more importantly, what has its powerful owner got planned for her? Because not everything is as it seems and working the VIP section under his watchful eye is only the beginning. That’s because Keira isn’t the only one keeping secrets and Afterlife isn’t just a nightclub at all… It’s a place for a Supernatural King to rule. And this King has sights set firmly on Keira. The one he has been searching for throughout the ages of time. His Chosen One…
His Fated Queen.
This book does have a warning for explicit content and mature situations. The prologue of this book is so dark and thrilling. We get no names but a fantastic description of the terror felt. This book is the longest book I have ever read on Kindle.
Keira arrives in New England looking for a new start, a new life. She has an air of mystery about her past, but her relationship with her sister seems to be excellent. She is very nature drawn, slightly paranoid, and definitely has a history we don’t know about. Evergreen Falls sounds inspiring. I love the miles of untouched forests.
This book is mainly from Keira’s point of view. She gets a job at a local club in town called Afterlife. A family name comes up a lot, The Draven’s, but no one knows much about them from the town folk. She meets a strange man in the woods and has a few page-burning encounters with him. But the single point of view and monologuing of every thought is boring to read even a few chapters into the book.
Dominic Draven, we finally get a name to the god-like man she has had a few encounters with. There seems to be a little love triangle going on between her dreaming and wishing for Dominic and Jake, her friend’s brother wanting her. I’m still trying to figure out what’s up with the nickname “Electus “what does that mean for her? So far, more than one person in her life has used it.
This book has an air of mystery to it. It is very slow-moving with a lot of single first-person point of view character building. I find Dominic a bit angsty and overbearing, but I also enjoy how sweet he is to Keira. It also has a creepy factor with her curse and the dreams and the other oddities in it. I did enjoy the mystery of what paranormal they all were and if there was more than one. After I finished it, I really loved this story and looked forward to reading more in this series.
