A few weeks ago, Summer Donovan learned she’s a witch descended from the Greek gods. She was whisked away to an academy for witches to learn how to use the element she controls—air.

But Zane’s been keeping a secret of his own. He’s an immortal, and his heritage isn’t Greek. It’s Norse. He infiltrated the academy two years ago to spy on the Greeks, and now Summer has to make a choice: reveal the truth about Zane and risk his life, or keep his secret and turn on her people.

Because the Norse gods are rising. When they do, it’s going to be all-out war.

And Summer will eventually have to pick a side.

My Review

This book continues right where the first leaves off and dives deeper into the mythology and magical politics surrounding Summer. The academy is still present, but the story shifts more toward unraveling secrets and hidden agendas.

Summer is juggling new discoveries about herself while dealing with friends and allies who all seem to be hiding something. Zane, Vera, and Mason each add layers to the mystery and it becomes clear there’s a bigger conflict happening beyond the school.

There’s more action and emotional tension here, but the focus moves away from the learning-magic academy vibe into supernatural rivalries and complicated relationships. Summer ends up stuck in the middle of immortals, gods, and elemental witches.

I found the plot intriguing but also a bit frustrating at times, especially with the constant push and pull dynamics. The story sets up future conflicts and doesn’t resolve much romantically, which may work for some readers but left me unsure about continuing.
