My Review

We begin the story with Rebel. She is midlife and living on the wrong side of the tracks, working at a seedy club, and unfortunately, she has had some very bad things happen to her. Her mother isn’t much older than she is, but Rebel loves her all the same.

Fang is the enforcer for the local MC club. He has a thing for Rebel and definitely doesn’t like to share. This book is very mature, with some very mature themes and situations, but I loved that it was an MC romance. And then there’s Vaughn, who seems to be her new stepbrother.

Okay, this book is a bit twisted, with major “who did this to you?” vibes, but Vaughn has some dirty secrets of his own.

There are so many secrets and betrayals throughout this story. It really shows the dark underbelly of society and what life can look like for people on the unprivileged side of it. Rebel, her ally Kian, and now Vaughn, her stepbrother, find themselves right in the middle of a giant pile of drama.

I really liked Rebel’s scrappiness. She’s sassy, has plenty of personality, and I enjoyed watching her navigate everything thrown at her. Kian is still a bit of a wild card, while Vaughn… well, he wasn’t exactly my favorite MC. I definitely liked Fang better.

Overall, I liked where this book went. I enjoyed the dark themes, gritty undertones, and getting a look at this rougher side of Rhode Island life. There was a lot going on, and the twists and betrayals kept things interesting.

But that ending?! Such a cliffhanger! 😳
