My Review

Evie is on the run from her past and prefers staying alone to ever risking going back. She moves often, keeps her distance from people, and struggles with panic attacks that make normal life difficult.

Luca is a protector by nature and by training. He and his team were part of military experiments that left them with enhanced abilities, and now they’re hunting down the people responsible. He quickly realizes Evie needs safety even if she doesn’t want to accept it.

As they grow closer, Evie slowly starts trusting him but still keeps one foot ready to run. I liked how Luca balances being fiercely protective while staying gentle with her. The constant references to her past add tension and keep you waiting for answers.

The story is predictable in places but the romantic suspense works well. The team dynamic adds a found family feel, with a group of strong men all watching out for one woman who clearly needs it. The relationship builds through learning to trust and sharing pieces of their trauma.

Overall it’s a tragic but hopeful love story with protective hero vibes and steady emotional growth.
