My Review

First off, I really love the cover and the map inside the book. Both helped set the mood before the story even started.

Wren, also called Kit because of her fox shifter form, is skilled in potions and herbal medicine and comes across as capable and strong despite everything she’s been through. Early on she discovers a fated mate situation she absolutely does not want, especially since it involves someone from her past. That rejection shapes a lot of her decisions moving forward.

She ends up attending Fate Hollow Academy, where we meet a large cast of supernatural characters. Damien and Thorne stood out the most to me. Many of the characters lean morally gray and extremely overprotective, which creates constant tension around her.

The academy setting mixes magic training, relationships, and complicated bonds. The story leans heavily into fated mates dynamics and emotional push and pull between characters. The magic system, especially the elemental aspects, is woven into both the plot and the romantic elements.

The book definitely aims for a new adult audience and has a heavier romance focus alongside the academy storyline. By the end the relationship dynamics expand even further, but personally I struggled to connect with Wren’s emotional arc and it wasn’t a direction that worked for me.

Overall it had interesting ideas and a strong setup, but it didn’t fully land for me so I won’t be continuing the series.
