He’s a billionaire hiding at my bed-and-breakfast, pretending to be ordinary. I’m the woman who fell for every pretty word…

Carter Banks shows up at my struggling beachside B&B looking for a place to disappear for the summer. I accept his reservation because we need the money. As it stands, I have three months to save my family’s legacy and no time for distractions. But the chemistry is off the charts, and we can’t get enough of one another.

Between late-night meetups and early morning coffee runs, I’m falling for a man who feels like home. He helps me slow down long enough to remember what I’m fighting for and reminds me to have fun.

Everything seems like it might work out until the sharks start circling, both the corporate kind and my ex wanting a second chance. Somehow, Carter’s the only one keeping me together. But when paparazzi photos and gossip blogs reveal the guy I’ve been falling for is actually Dyson Carter Banks—billionaire CEO and exactly the kind of man I swore I’d never trust—I’m left wondering if it was real or if I was just another summer crush.

There’s only one way to find out…

My Review

Wendy is in her thirties and has recently walked away from her long term relationship, her job, and the life she knew to take over her family’s B and B in Coconut Beach. The problem is it is barely staying afloat and feels like it could fall apart at any moment. I found this very relatable, especially that midlife feeling of starting over and not being entirely sure it was the right choice.

Then Carter walks in and completely shifts the energy. He is charming, observant, and definitely more than he seems. Wendy has a strong ability to read people from her past work, and watching her try to figure him out was one of my favorite parts.

The dual point of view works really well here and Carter’s perspective adds another layer to the story. The summer setting is done so well. Between the beach, the small town feel, and the cozy B & B atmosphere, it truly feels like a vacation.

The forced proximity brings tension right away and their chemistry builds quickly. There is a push and pull between them that keeps things interesting, especially with the added layer of secrets. Both characters feel mature in a way that makes their connection believable, even when things get complicated.

This book leans into some really fun tropes, including secret identity, grumpy sunshine energy, and a romance that feels a little forbidden at times. It starts with light summer vibes but gradually builds into something deeper and more emotional.

There are so many moments in this story that are funny, sweet, and unexpectedly heartfelt. It balances the lighter beach read energy with stronger emotional moments really well.

By the end, I was fully invested in Wendy’s journey and how everything came together. It gave me both heartwarming and emotional moments, and I really enjoyed the overall experience.

This was such a fun, swoony summer read with just enough depth to keep me hooked. Definitely one I would recommend if you are looking for something with beach vibes, chemistry, and a little bit of chaos mixed in.
