Nothing can rain on Quincy Monroe’s parade. She’s a woman in STEM with a PhD in atmospheric sciences, the host of a successful online weather show, and has one million followers on her meteorology Instagram.

Quincy has spent endless hours forging her path in this male-dominated field, becoming one of the best in the industry. And with a new job opportunity, nothing can derail her success. Except for the ill-timed arrival of Sebastian Dunn.

Sebastian is her best friend’s brother, her longtime academic and professional rival, and a flashy TV weatherman from New York City that everyone swoons over. Everyone but Quincy.

Over a scorching Florida summer and record-breaking hurricane season, Sebastian and Quincy are forced into close proximity. Setting aside their grudges to chase storms and stay alive is one thing, but can they weather the inevitable collision of their hearts?

My Review

I can’t tell you how excited I am to have this book as an ARC copy, thank you Netgalley. Storm chasing , forced proximity, and enemies to lovers. I knew this was going to be good.

The story starts in the summer with Quincy. She is embracing her midlife self, has a fun sense of humor, and has her best friend Harlow right next door. This book is already giving the vibes, and I love the nostalgic Twister references. Quincy is a meteorologist with her own show streaming weather related content live. She is successful and smart, and I love how the story includes modern technology. I also adore that she has a strong circle of women around her. Mia, Quincy, and Harlow are thick as thieves. Mia is the romantic and an author, Harlow is into thrillers and owns a bar, and Quincy is in a STEM field. It makes for such a well rounded cast. Of course, her best friend’s brother is also her worst enemy.

Sebastian is her academic rival and long time nemesis. He has always been a thorn in her side with his fame, success, and follower count. We do get his POV, and he is very smirky and fully aware of his charm. His midlife burnout brings him back to Florida for a special weather series, and honestly I would watch it. His plan is to spend time with family and friends while also pushing Quincy’s buttons.

If their not so friendly banter was not enough, the position they are both applying for raises the stakes even more. Their friend group is tight, which gives this story strong small town vibes, and I love how all of those connections are woven together.

Oh my goodness, this ramps up as the storms roll in. Sebastian is a multi faceted character, annoying, charming, and even heroic at times. Quincy is his opposite in the best way. She is strong, soft, sweet, and also very feisty. If you enjoy stormy weather, the thrill of the chase, hurricanes, and tornadoes, you will love this book. It gave me all the spring weather vibes.

The storm patterns are not the only thing heating up in this story 🥵 The enemies to lovers tension gets intense. The slow burn and hot and cold dynamic feels like the quiet before a massive storm. You know it is coming, and the anticipation builds, even if the wait can be a little frustrating. At the same time, I loved their banter and overall dynamic.

As the story progresses, I kept wondering if they would survive the storm ⛈️ With their jobs, friendships, and lives so intertwined, there is a lot at stake. I loved the variety of storms included, from tornadoes to hurricanes to simple thunderstorms. If you love stories with both heat and heart, this one delivers.

Sebastian and Quincy are mesmerizing together. The intensity, the tension, and the intimacy all build into a love story that feels both subtle and powerful. It develops slowly, like an afternoon rainstorm, but is incredibly endearing. I loved how this story wrapped up, and it is definitely a five star read for me.

I especially enjoyed the ending. What started as enemies to lovers evolves into something deeper, stronger, and ultimately becomes the calm at the center of the storm. I am a huge storm fan, and this book gave me all the vibes and feelings I could want, along with a romance I truly loved. I will absolutely be adding a copy to my collection to reread.
