Season Challenges by Emma Lee Johnson

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Jack Cardal is a world-famous professional footballer, living a life of frivolity and excess. To the outside world, he has it all: money, fame, good looks, an abundance of beautiful women to share his bed, and a career most men can only dream of. Deep down, though, Jack is yearning for something he’s never had before, something he never thought would matter to him.

The One.

Lucy O’Dowell’s life has been nothing short of a rollercoaster since her mother died a year ago, and now, her seriously ill father is on the verge of losing the family farm. Things look grim, but when a handsome stranger lands at her farm with his noisy, pretentious car and smouldering grey eyes, it doesn’t stop Lucy from offering him her kind hospitality. Lucy has no idea who Jack is, and Jack would like to keep it that way, at least for now.

They’re worlds apart, but when their paths cross in the most random of ways, no one can deny the chemistry between them. Can Jack and Lucy make this work or will the differences between them make it too much of a challenge?

My Review

This book gets sizzling hot as they find love and passion with each other. Wow, the two opposite worlds meet, and Lucy handles it so well. Jack may be famous, but he has issues with being the center of attention.
Every big thing goes boom in their perfect lives, and the story gets heartbreaking as they get back on track. I think the additions of vanilla steamy stuff were unnecessary in this story; the storyline, the characters’ sizzling intimacy, and the chemistry came across the page just fine.

This story ends wonderfully, and it is a nice throwback to sports. You know who wouldn’t like Jack’s celebrity status, but of course, he is much better by the end of the book. I truly enjoyed this story, especially its rags-to-riches, opposites attract, which is an excellent way of writing. There is a ton of drama, and their lives aren’t easy, but it was interesting to read.

Lucy’s character is refreshing, as is her quiet confidence, ability to brighten the story’s mood, and, of course, her real love. I love that this simple girl next door was crucial to the storyline and inspirational.
