When Ellie moves to Hawaii, all she wants to do is keep her head down, lay low, and live a simple life. She’d never considered that people would actually want to get to know her. Can Ellie survive flying under the radar? Or will the handsome fireman douse her fire and bring everything to light?
Kona is the Captain at the local fire station. A town hero to most, dashingly handsome to all. Ellie intrigues him and he won’t stop until he’s figured her out.
Can Ellie finally find the love and family she’s always yearned for? Or will her past come back to haunt her?
My Review
Ellie is plagued by nightmares but finds solace in island life. She relocated to Kauai a few months ago. Although her background is very pretentious, she is obviously a damaged MC.
I kind of like Kona. He is assertive but also gentle with Ellie. He is also a firefighter. Kona is so gentle and sweet. I love the beachy themes, even with the sordid details of both their lives.
Ellie and Kona make an adorable couple. Of course, some tragedy, unexpected drama, and true romance are all part of this story. I knew Ellie’s tragic past would return, but I didn’t expect all the twists and turns.
I also appreciate the author’s showing her healing. The end of this book is exhilarating, and the once-damaged MC finally finds her strength and family. This was a well-written read, and I truly enjoyed the tropical romance and fantastic characters.
