I am a wolf in humans clothing…
All I’ve ever wanted is to be part of the pack, but it’s difficult when you’re human. It never stopped my adopted wolf mother from loving me, but now that the biggest bully of our pack Troy is about to become alpha, he plans to ruin any chance I’ve got of fitting in.
I’ve already got enough problems without adding ‘kidnapped’ to my list. But that’s exactly what happens when we’re attacked and I’m taken captive by the alpha of the enemy pack.
I should hate Night, but he’s nicer to me than Troy ever was, not to mention a hell of a lot sexier. I know our attraction is dangerous, but our connection sparks something in me I never expected, revealing there’s much more to me than my human side.
When Troy hunts me down, it can only mean one thing—war. Now I must make an impossible decision between following my heart or remaining loyal to the pack that raised me..
My Review
Overall, these stories were fascinating. I loved the damaged mc part of the story and Bryn becoming more than a heroine. Night is strong, protective, and an alpha male. The story is steamy and action-packed, and it was a good read. The second book ends on a cliffhanger, and there are more books in the series. This series confused me at first as book 2 disappeared again, but then I realized it is combined with book 1. That is why it skips from book 1 to book 3 on the series page.
Book 1 – Outside the Pack
This book begins in the past with an unnamed girl who is bullied for being human. Her stepmother tells her a sweet story.
Bryn is that little girl now grown-up and fantasizing about a green-eyed man. Her world is shifting. She is unsafe but at least forgotten for now in the pack, but things are about to change for her.
Night is the alpha of the Wargs, a neighboring pack. They live more simply than the King’s pack and are also smaller in numbers. Their alpha is restless after dreaming of a certain smokey-eyed girl. He is a little arrogant, but at least he has some values. The plot thickens as we see the connection between the packs.
I’m waiting to see the light at the end of this dark tunnel for Bryn, but it has yet to show up. Night is definitely an anti-hero. He has heroic acts and thoughts, but he is also a villain. Ah, Night does a semi-noble act, but his motives may not be noble.
Bryn’s life as an average adult human is just starting, and I love the safety and friendships she finds in the Wargs pack. The alpha is all kinds of angsty, but she fits in very well. Bryn does have some damaged mc vibes from the years of neglect and mistreatment in her previous pack.
So far, this book has a great timeline of events, with some suspenseful decisions about the next event. I keep expecting one thing to happen, and when it doesn’t, I can’t help but want to read further to see when it will. Oh, the concept of fated mates does come up, and I’m so excited to see where it goes, even though Night is firmly in denial.
Finally, this book gets steam but also puts Night in a precarious situation. I didn’t expect that, and just as this was getting very predictable, the author surprised me. Oh, and this book ends with some unfinished business.
Book 2 – Fighting for the Pack ( included with Book 1 on Kindle)
What will the knight do now? I hope he gets sweet revenge on the villain Troy in this story.
Ah, this book and story take a turn with much drama and suffering, but surprisingly, the underdog comes out on top.
This book’s middle to last half shows a new side to Bryn; our damaged mc becomes a heroine. I like the politics, justice, and even the steamy scenes. She has come so far from the beginning of the book.
Oh, betrayal, love, and sabotage all come about in this story towards the end. This book has some exciting and gruesome action sequences.
This story ends on a cliffhanger with more books in their series. I did enjoy Bryn and Night’s story and the heroine she becomes in these books. For those wanting to read further, I hope the future books are as exciting and interesting as the first two.
