MATT
Maddie Kennedy is trouble with a capital T. As my teammate’s little sister, she is strictly off-limits. But I didn’t know that the night we met.
After safely putting her in the Friend Zone, she recruits me to be her wingman and I can’t say no. But I can say no to all the jerks she seems to be interested in.
I can’t break the code by dating my teammate’s sister. I definitely can’t go behind his back like that.
MADDIE
I don’t want to be in the Friend Zone with Matt Callahan, and I’m tired of men running away when they find out who my brother is.
So asking him to help me get rid of the V-card in my back pocket, might have been an elaborate ruse. Because he’s the only man who’s right for the job.
I’m fine with it just being one night. I know I won’t be able to convince him to break the code and date me in secret. He’s too good of a guy to do that.
My Review
This story is about Maddie and Matt. They have some internal struggles to deal with, and I love the brothers’ best friend, friends to lovers, hockey, and secret romance. They are both college-aged, putting this firmly in the new adult fiction category. Matt is total book-boyfriend material. This story gets steamy. This book ends sweetly as they find the courage to overcome their issues and finally get their happy-for-now ending. I totally found myself rooting for their relationship and his team.
Maddie is Noah’s younger sister. Her brother is very overprotective, and because of this, this new adult college student hasn’t had much romance in her life.
Matt is a stud. He knows his way around women and, well, the bedroom. He is a newbie on the hockey team, but he kind of misses his shot with Maddie.
Matt goes from missed shot to wingman, and he is still denying himself the girls of his dreams instead of being in the friend zone because, you know, it’s complicated. They can’t seem to resist the attraction, and things evolve into a secret romance. I like that this is forbidden because of the “bro code,”” her overprotective brother,” and, of course, add in his living situation and his mentor if that isn’t enough.
Maddie knows what she wants and knows she gets to have all the passion and sizzling scenes, and not just in her books. My goodness, Matt is the perfect book boyfriend, sweet and feisty.
This story gets turbulent as these two don’t see eye to eye. I liked the secret relationship, but the internal struggle to overcome it is very realistic. The author touches on your own expectations vs. the perceived ones. Maddie and Matt are very cute, sweet, and lovely together, and this book doesn’t disappoint and ends with a wonderful hfn.

This story is part of the Philadelphia Bulldogs Series, a great series of hockey romances, men finding their women, and cute but complicated romances.
