Have you ever heard of the old Celtic legends of the fae—beautiful, magical, and deadly, with a love of messing with humans just for kicks and giggles? Welcome to my world. What started out as a strange assignment leads to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries of our times, and my friends and I are determined to find out who is killing off fae and witches alike? Couple of problems in the way—I hate the Fae and the Prince of the Dark Fae is bound and determined that I work for him. He’s a rude, overbearing, egotistical being with a compulsive need to possess, dominate, and control me. Oh—did I mention he’s absolutely sex-on-a-stick gorgeous, and he makes me feel things that I never ever wanted to feel for a Fae . . . every time he touches me or looks at me with those golden eyes seems to pull me further in under his spell, despite my better judgment. My friends and I can’t trust anyone and nothing is as it seems on the surface—not even me.
This book is dark paranormal with heat, and strong situations. The hero is an alpha-hole, who is about to meet his match.
My Review
This story is a thrilling dark paranormal romance with an enemies-to-lovers theme and a badass heroine. I love how gritty and action-packed the plot line is and the adventure packed in with a short trip to fantasy land. The Fae, the Witches, and so much supernatural magic with characters you can’t help but enjoy. I love how Ryder is all Alpha male, and Synthia is broken yet amazing. She may be damaged, but she is one strong woman and goes through so much in this story. Her history and current events meet as they investigate gruesome events, fight their destiny, and uncover so much. I really enjoyed this read. This series might become my new guilty pleasure, something to enjoy when I want to escape into another world.
The blurb of this book absolutely caught my interest. This book warns about mature content, scenes, and language. The author teases us in the warning making me want to read this all the more.
This book starts off action-packed as Synthia is on a mission and gives us a little back history about the Fae and herself as a Witch. Her mission is to steal from Ryder, the dark Fae Prince. Unfortunately, things don’t go according to plan. Oh, I love her fire; even in the darkest of times, she surprises me with her moves and motivations. However, afterward, this gets even more twisted.
Wow, the supernatural talent in this book of the Fae Prince is mind-blowing and very erotic. Ryder has some Alpha male issues, but his dominance is sinfully hot. Unfortunately for Synthia, she always seems to find herself on the wrong side of his temptations. Ah, the real crux of the book finally presents itself or is wholly explained.
Omg, Synthia’s powers are so incredible. I love her second sight. This book has a CSI feel to the story except paranormal. I am enchanted by Synthia, her story and how broken she is, and how much intrigue there is with her history and powers. The chemistry with the dark Prince is very angsty. However, the author threw me for a loop with the inclusion of a specific character. This book is moderately thrilling with how dark and mysterious the plot line is and the deaths they are investigating. Ryder is a massive tease with his actions and words.
Oh, the wild hunt definitely brings this story from paranormal to fantasy. All the angst finally erupts in one sizzling scene that is very long and detailed. The interspecies coupling is hot as hell. The mystery of who and what Syn is finally getting some answers, but wow, it took a while; however, I loved her character no matter the paranormal she turned out to be. The fact that it changes makes it much more exciting, and her powers are truly remarkable.
Synthia and Ryder are stubborn, passionate and a match made in hell. We see her strength and weakness as this book turns very dark. As if it wasn’t dark enough, these enemies turn into lovers again with a sizzling scene that helps end the book. We don’t get all the answers, but we do get some which make me wonder if there is more of this fantastic couple. I do like how this ended with speculation instead a dramatic ending. I will absolutely be reading more in this series.
