A dark and stormy night…
As a hurricane bore down on the Eastern Shore, Sheriff Liam Sullivan patrolled the roads, glad to see everyone was staying inside. Everyone except the owner of the car towing a trailer, now sitting on the side of the road, lights flashing.
And then he met her. A woman in need. A woman to rescue. A woman to protect. A woman to love.
Now to convince her of that.
My Review
This book is a part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
Liam is a sheriff in Virginia. He takes his job seriously, and this book starts out with a scene you won’t soon forget. Then we had to jump back two days. We get the full gist of that unforgettable scene later in the book and meet Amy and Rosie.
The forced proximity is starting to ignite new feelings and thoughts in Liam. I love the breath of fresh air in this book’s characters, Rosie and Amy.
Amy has the worst of luck in this book and is trying hard to be independent, strong, and a great mother. Of course, this book gets more complicated for Amy, Liam, and Rosie. Darn it, I was looking forward to a sweet happily ever after.
This book gets steamy and has a little taste of suspense in it. The story gets a bit more like a crime show but then turns back to the romance between Amy and Liam. I love the ending of this book.
This was a good read. I really enjoyed the unexpected events that brought them together and kept them together. The story trending toward a fraud investigation and plot line was interesting, and I didn’t really see how it fit in the story, but it gave us a little suspense as the book’s timeline moved forward.
This story almost has a “Jesse Stone“ vibe to it if you ever watched the movies and inspired by the books from Author Robert B Parker. I think you will understand what I mean .
