My Review

This book is the perfect feel-good romance; it has a sweet happy ending. But it is quite the story to get there. I liked the new adult to mature adult romance and the second chance storyline. The quirks of the story really make this unique and memorable. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did; even though it wasn’t a summer read, it had feel-good vibes.

We begin this story with Melanie remembering how this perfect day went awry. She is in Brunswick bay, California, the day after Prom but before graduation. Cooper, her high school sweetheart boyfriend, seems like a catch in the book’s first part. Their high school romance ends abruptly, but she decides to put herself aside for him in love.

Then this book time jumps ten years to the future. Melanie is a writer now and a published author. This book has some nostalgia as she has written her story, but with the ending, she wished it had. She still misses and loves the one that got away but hasn’t made any moves to find her high school sweetheart Cooper. Melanie’s dedication to this new romance book sparked a mess of unexpected complications. What will she do now?

This book gets twisted as surprises and old connections creep into the story. It seems fate and friends are conspiring to bring this high school love story back together. This book gets exciting as events bring the past to the present. However, they both make mistakes again, and I hope this ends happily.

I do like all the manipulations by friends and family to give them their happily ever after despite their mistakes. This book ends sweet and is the perfect feel-good read. I like the basis and storyline as a reader; being in the author’s head and seeing her feelings was terrific.
