With Alpha brothers Killian and Jaxon both happily mated and the land divided between them, it should be smooth sailing ahead. And it is… until a dream about Aurelia’s unborn children sparks new fears of unrest in the wider werewolf community, placing Briar’s pack under new suspicion. As Briar attempts to root out those responsible, her new co-Alpha causes more tension, getting under Jaxon’s skin and stirring up new feelings in an unlikely place.
When they come up against an enemy who wants to not only defeat them but tear the whole system down with them, everyone will need to work together if the babies are to be safely delivered and their way of life preserved.
My Review
I wasn’t sure I would like this book as I hadn’t read it before, and it would be one of my few experiences reading a homosexual romance. However, the author wrote this flawlessly. Bringing in all the characters we know and love from the previous books as well as some new ones and creating an unconventional family. The book had fated mates, steamy scenes, both homosexual and heterosexual, and an action-filled plotline focused on equality and love. I loved how Briar developed with Jaxson and saw Bauer’s softer side. Killian and Aurelia are always amazing to read. Many changes happen in this story, but the kindness and acceptance can be felt thru the pages.
This is the third book in the Cold Lake Pack Series, and I can’t wait to read this story. The author does give a slight hint in the blurb as to what this may contain, but I know it will be twisted with so many fated mates, couples, and even some new characters. Aurelia and Killian, Briar, and Jaxon are also in this read. This book has multiple povs as each pair is going through different things. The author included secrets, double agents, and premonitions to really ramp up the plot in this book. This was a fabulous read, so good that I can’t believe it is the end of the Cold Lake Pack Series. I can’t wait to see what she does next with the wonderful characters and their continuing generations.
This book begins with Dane and Bauer being the amazing betas they are. Still, it is also a quick refresh of the personalities you find in this story. Dane is newly mated to Melanie, Bauers’ younger sister. Bauer has a secret, and he is feeling some unexpected lust toward someone he doesn’t want to be lusting after.
Aurelia is pregnant with twins with complicated paternity, but I love the inclusion of both sexes to be Alpha. That is a book I would love to read.
Briar is Co- Alpha of the Wild River Pack and Jaxon’s new mate’s hybrid wolf/witch. She is adapting to her new role in the pack and meeting her new Co – Alpha. Colton is from a traditional conservative pack, but he is a perfect choice for Co-Alpha to Briar. He is young but not untrained. Colton is rebellious and looking for an adventure. Colton is refreshingly funny, light-hearted, and easy to get along with.
Vivid premonitions or dreams are the first insight into the twists in this story. I wonder who Bauers mate will be and if he finds his fated mate?
Oh, I don’t expect that, but now that it is, how will it work? Who will switch packs? I do like that the authors include homosexual romance in this paranormal story. Each couple has their own way of connecting, including our homosexual fated mates. This book gets steamy and intimate. There is still some mystery in the storyline with the who and the why behind the dream, what it means, and how to stop it.
As this book ramps up, it gets more mysterious with deception, double agents, and many secrets. The story gets action-packed as their premonition comes to pass but not precisely how it was seen. Instead, it is so much better. Omg, this book ended perfectly.
