Sweet Home Louisiana (Boys of the Bayou Book 2) by Erin Nicholas

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The one that got away is home again. And she ain’t happy about it. Now this bayou playboy has thirty days to show her that the most important things in life– like soulmates, family, and the perfect gumbo recipe– never change.

Thanks to a drawn-up-while-drinking-moonshine partnership agreement, Madison Allain has to spend thirty days back on the bayou before she can sell her part of the family business.

And if the heat and humidity and freaking alligators of Louisiana aren’t enough to agitate the cool and in-control California girl, then Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who stole her heart twelve years ago, will sure do the trick.

Owen just has to remember two simple rules: Do not fight with her. Do not kiss her.

Well, those should be simple anyway.

But he can do this. He’s charming and friendly for a living after all.

Still, this is Maddie. The only woman to ever shake up this laid-back bayou boy.

Besides, she’s not staying. No way. These people and this town make her crazy. She doesn’t want to be crazy. She definitely does not want to own a swamp boat tour company.

She just wants to paint. In her quiet, alligators-not-allowed, air-conditioned art studio.

As for that hot bayou boy? Well, he’s…amazing. But he belongs here in the South. And she definitely doesn’t.

Even if her heart stays behind when she leaves.

My Review

This southern second chance romance is a story about our bayou boy Owen and his lost love Madeline. Maddie is a California girl now and an artist, and she doesn’t want to be forced to stay in the bayou for thirty days. As time passes, this couple reignites their chemistry and love for each other, but she is still leaving. Will he go with her or will she decide to stay? This book is an adventure with action, a big crazy family, and a business that gets under everyone’s skin; there is nothing like being crazy in love. This book ends and leads to the next book in this series, and this couple gets a happy for now ending.

Owen finds himself eye scanning Madison as she walks into the bayou in high heels. He has had chemistry with her for a long time. She is home due to a backwood contract prohibiting her from selling her portion of the business till she spends thirty days in Louisiana. But she prefers her quiet, air-conditioned studio in San Francisco.

The bayou starts to break into Maddie’s walls and Owen’s. This book gets steamy, but she is still leaving. I love how the author brings in their past and present and tells the reader about the crazy fierce protective emotions they both feel and act on.

This southern big crazy happy family, it is impossible not to love. I love the intense action and drama scenes in this book that bring this couple closer together. I’m so glad Maddie decided to change her mind, and this book ends with a setup for the next book in the series.
