Wild Thing: A Vampire Paranormal Romance (Blueblood Vampires Book 2) by Michelle Hercules

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Savage. Reckless. Wild. These are only some of the words used to describe me. I’m all of those things, and I never wished to be anything else in almost 500 years of existence.

Then she came along. Aurora Leal, the daughter of the High Witch and destined for that role. She’s practically royalty in the magical world, but most importantly, she’s forbidden fruit.

I was taught never to mess with witches, and I had no intention of breaking that rule until the night she crashed into my life. I couldn’t resist the pull, and like an idiot, I succumbed to her charms.

Now I’m screwed. What was supposed to be only a hookup left a permanent mark. I ended up mated to the sassy witch. An eternal commitment wasn’t something I ever wished for, but when your destined mate is promised to someone else, that’s a much bigger problem.

I only have two choices. Either I find a way to break the mating bond or Aurora will become a widow before she says I do. That will definitely start a war between vampires and mages. But the more time I spend with her, the less inclined I am to give her up.

Damn, I guess I’m killing some mages, then.

My Review

This vampire romance book has interspecies mating, action and adventure, and lots of political twists. It is more of paranormal fiction than romance but still manages to include steamy scenes. I enjoyed this story of the witch in training and the vampire playboy who didn’t want to live but found it anyway. Aurora is a fantastic heroine. She is loving, brave, and truly cares for others.

This is the second book in the Blue Blood series, and I can’t wait to see if it will be as amazing as the first.

This time we get Aurora’s point of view; she was a prominent character in the first book and is the daughter of the high priestess. Yes, she is a witch in a school of vampires. She is in training to be a high witch. She is impulsive, caring, and a true heroine. She is also promised to a man she doesn’t like. Apparently, Saxon is her mate and not her arranged; this should be interesting.

We also get Saxon’s point of view, and I have to stay although he is immature for a five-hundred-year-old vampire, he is super sexy. Saxon, of course, can’t wait for no to her, and this book gets steamy, but it also explains how they become mated.

I find it interesting that parts of this book occur before the last one did. The action and troubles ramp up, and I don’t know how she will get herself out of this one. This book gets very political as the characters each have their own issues to resolve, all for the king’s good.

This book gets action-packed as the author ties up many loose ends but not all of them. Saxon and Aurora do get their mate bond and happy ending. Aurora also becomes more and gives up more than she ever bargained for, but she does it all for love.

I know there are more books in this series, and I can’t wait to read them.
