Witches are real.
That’s not something I ever thought I’d say, but it’s true. Of course, that doesn’t mean I understand it, or that I’m okay with it. Honestly, it’s been three days since I was attacked and nearly killed, and my mind still can’t process it. Unfortunately, it’s so much more than that. It isn’t just that witches are real; it’s that I am one. I’ve spent my whole life in the dark about something that was inside of me all along, and I feel betrayed, but worse than that, it was my own mother that committed the betrayal.
Now that Nat knows what she is, her life is spiraling. Everything is happening so fast, and the people around her aren’t safe. The includes Matt, her forever crush. She’s devastated that she has to push him away, but it’s for the best. Plus, she needs to focus on her magic. Learning it won’t be easy, and Sybil isn’t the most patient person.
As Nat struggles, someone she thought was her friend turns out to be her worst enemy, and in the end, someone has to die.
My Review
This is a New Adult paranormal action story about two high school witches, their boyfriends, and trouble. Nat and Sybil can’t seem to help get themselves caught in dangerous situations without all the answers. The book has suspenseful moments, high adrenaline (can’t put it down), and steamy moments that make you love these heroines, even if they are immature. Of course, the best part of this book was the end, and I can’t wait to see where this story goes.
I felt like the last book was very Ya and didn’t resolve much. I also really wanted more in the romance department so let’s see what this second book entails.
The prologue of this book recaps the previous books and all the twisted secrets revealed. The story starts suspenseful as she battles her internal and external struggles. I’m glad Sybil is teaching Nat magic. This book gets steamy, at least for Sybil. I think Nat is too anxious and needs some stress relief, but she is pushing Matt away.
Sybil is also in danger by proximity, and the action in this book really ramps up. Eventually, she and Matt get steamy and sweet; however, her life takes some unexpected turns. The author definitely nailed the immature high school girls, witches, and activities in this story.
I love the epilogue and can’t wait for the next book. The author really introduced a dramatic character at the end. But to know more, you’ll have to read this story.
