Behind the Lyrics by Melissa Riddell

What happens when a Rock God falls for a mere mortal?

Angela Morales
I came to Mesa Palms for a fresh start after my divorce. Needing the serenity and calm of the desert, I spend my afternoons as a DJ rocking the city. It might not be the most glamorous job, but I love the no-frills life and answering only to my cat.

That is, until one day, England’s biggest God of Nu Rock walks in like he owns the place, and my boss forces me to interview the arrogant jerk on-air. The entire interview turns into a horrible disaster, but it gets even worse when Viktor sets his sights on me.

He thinks he can seduce me with his bedroom eyes, but I’ve dealt with men like him before. I’ll chew him up and spit him out so hard he’ll land back in England, where he belongs.

Viktor Farrow
When I walked into the dumpy radio station, I’ll admit I didn’t think much of it–until I saw the little angel sitting in front of the microphone with a snarky smile.
Yeah, I’ve made some terrible mistakes in my past, but it’s been years and I’ve cleaned up my act.

No drugs. No alcohol. No messing around.

Does Angela, the little demon sent to torture me, believe it? That’s a big, fat bloody no.

But I have a plan—Operation Angel Seducer. Once it’s sprung, she’ll be putty in my quite capable hands. After all, no woman has ever resisted the lead singer of Angry Gods.

My Review

I read this Arc at the request of the Author and I am leaving an honest review.

The book is from a dual perspective between Dj Angela Morales and musician Viktor Farrow. Their spontaneous interview was so hot it could combust even laced with insults. Viktor now has his eyes and other parts set on Ms.Morales. I love that he calls her Angel and is actively pursuing this annoying woman. Viktor comes across as an arrogant jerk. But he is determined even for a rockstar. They have many ups and downs, but it all ends so romantically.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a perfect romance. I loved all the spontaneous gifts and the way he tried to make her swoon. I loved how feisty and in control Angela was. I actually enjoyed her backstory a lot. I think her overcoming her previous life and finding similarities with him but learning to trust anyway was amazing. His issues really caused her to think things through and take her time. The rock god was super hot. I loved the steamy scenes and the romance in his chase of the girl. I loved how Angela didn’t just fall at his feet. She stuck to her comforts and fought back. I loved that he had to go out of his way to win the girl and honestly think about what would impress her, whether sincerity or gifts.

I wouldn’t call this an insta-love romance as both characters had to battle their own demons to find love with each other. The author included taboo subjects in the book, like rockstars having issues with alcoholism and drugs and Angela recovering from abuse and still having panic attacks, making her character more relatable. They did go from enemies to lovers, but it wants instantaneous. This book was a fantastic read, and I loved every page of it.
