Wild Hunt (Shadow Guild: Wolf Queen Book 2) by Linsey Hall

Rating: 4 out of 5.

My secret is out, and the Alpha knows what I am.

Despite ten years of secrecy, Lachlan has realized that I’m his mate. He is not pleased that I’ve been hiding from him. And the fact that I escaped from his cell? Yeah, he hates that too. It’s hardly my worst problem, though.

There’s a killer after me. Multiple killers, if our source is to be believed. As much as I want to run a hundred miles from Lachlan to avoid the mate bond, it’s too dangerous. I need his help to find the people who are after me, and there’s no way he’d let me go, anyway.

As much as I hate it, we’re going to have to team up to stop a madman. The hunt forces us together, and despite our best efforts to resist each other, it becomes harder every day. It’s going to take everything I have not to fall to temptation, but I must–especially if I want to survive.

My Review

This book was fantastically written to keep you spellbound, just like our main characters Eve and Lachlan. The mystery of why Eve is being hunted takes precedence in this book.  I love that we get to see Alpha Lachlan in a softer, gentler light as the mate bond intensifies. Fraught with danger at every turn, will the pair reach the answers they need. This book really brings in the other member of the Shadow Guild and their talents, as well as Eves. One minute they are too close to think straight, and the next, they are hunting the hunter in the underground of London. New powers, enhanced feelings, and lots of honesty leave the reader so connected to their characters that there is no way not to continue the story.

The author did a great job entrancing the reader with the characters’ personalities and their biggest fears. We begin to understand both Eve and Lachlan’s points of view through the challenges they face. Lachlan, an Alpha Wolf Shifter with a secret curse, definitely engages the readers’ emotions. Eve becomes a more potent heroin despite protests and the mate bond. I enjoyed seeing Eve in a different light as well as with new powers to guide the mystery behind who she is and why people are after her,

I cannot wait to read the third installment of this series, Pack of Lies. I’m hoping it will answer some of the questions the reader is left with and maybe bring the two main characters even closer together. The Shadow Guild books are engaging and mysterious I’m truly loving this series.
