Dirty Irish by Mia Clark

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I just want to be naughty for one night of my life.
I think I’d be really good at it…

I need to escape.
I’m a bad girl trapped in a good girl’s body.
Perfect grades, star volleyball player, lead in the drama club.
I know it’ll lead to a great career.
But I need more.

Just one night.
In Ireland.
On St. Patrick’s Day.
Thousands of miles away from anyone who knows me.

That’s how I met Dare Mackenzie.
With fire in his emerald eyes, sinful promises on his lips.
And an accent as intoxicating as the darkest stout.
He keeps saying I’m too sweet, too innocent, too good.

I dare you, Dare Mackenzie.
Just try and call me sweet and innocent again!

Sweet?
Tasting, maybe.

Innocent?
Good girls like that don’t do what I’m about to do…

After tonight you’ll want to swim the Atlantic for another taste.
It’s not like it matters. We’ll never see each other again…

Right?

My Review

Grace is excited for St. Patrick’s Day, but she’s torn between being the “good girl” she’s always been and stepping outside of that. She doesn’t usually celebrate much with her mom, and between that and being on the volleyball team, her life feels pretty routine. I listened to this on audio, which is done in virtual voice.

The story is on the shorter side, which I appreciated. Grace has a plan with her friends, but she’s not being fully honest about it at first. Then we find out she’s actually heading to Ireland for the holiday, which sets up a fun adventure for a good girl trying to be a little bad.

This one does get steamy, so maybe be mindful of where you’re listening. The meet cute quickly turns into something more, and their one night together feels special, even if it’s short lived. Dare is an absolute sweetheart, and Grace falls hard.

That said, the storyline felt a bit familiar to me, like something I’ve read before. It definitely leans into instalove, with Dare being completely gone for her right away. When Grace returns home, she struggles to process everything that happened, and of course she misses his accent, their banter, and the connection they shared.

The book ends on a happy for now note, but it’s still complicated and very much feels like a collegiate romance that leaves you wanting more. I do wish the audiobook had dual narration, as I think it would have added more depth compared to a single voice.
