Alex works search and rescue on Wild Heart Mountain. He’s gruff, serious about his job, and prefers being alone. When he gets the call about a missing hiker named Chantelle, he heads out knowing the weather is about to turn dangerous.

He finds her just in time, and bringing her back to his place becomes the safest option. From that moment his protective instincts kick in hard. Alex feels older and more settled in life, while Chantelle comes across younger and unsure, hinting at a rough past she doesn’t fully explain.

We get both points of view, and Chantelle is curvy, nervous, and trying to process everything happening at once. Alex clearly becomes attached very quickly, almost instantly claiming a role in her life, which gives the story strong instalove and forced proximity vibes.

The billionaire mountain home setting adds a fantasy element and contrasts her situation with his lifestyle. Their attraction grows fast despite the age gap and opposite backgrounds. He’s protective and possessive, while she’s more skeptical and unsure whether to trust the situation she’s fallen into.

It’s a quick, steamy read that leans heavily into fantasy romance tropes. The story touches on heavier topics and readers should check warnings beforehand, but it works well as a short palate cleanser type romance.
