My Review

Summer is a new-adult to midlife heroine still living at home and helping on her parents’ ranch. Dating apps haven’t worked out for her, so when she hears the neighboring ranch is up for sale she immediately sees an opportunity to turn her bed-and-breakfast dream into reality. And if a tall, rich man happens to come with the property… she won’t complain. Unfortunately her best friend Kinsley suggests teaming up with her older brother Beckett — who also happens to be Summer’s sworn enemy. Summer is sassy, funny, and full of personality, which makes their history even more entertaining.

Beckett, the so-called archenemy, is a smooth cowboy who teaches riding lessons. He’s sweet but focused, and the available ranch would help him expand his business. As the story unfolds, we learn more about the rivalry between him and Summer and why their tension runs so deep.

This is a very character-driven story filled with hot-and-cold interactions and plenty of tension. Their chemistry is strong and they clearly struggle to keep their hands to themselves. The real hook for me was the question of who would end up with the land, and that conflict resolves nicely.

The ending stays true to the characters and gives a charming small-town romance finish.
