My Review
Elara is a wolf shifter forced to mate with the future Alpha Liam Wilder. Her mother has been trapped by duty as well. She is the Beta’s daughter, and it is her obligation to mate with the upcoming Alpha, Liam. But his charm is a weapon, and he is not a nice person. Her friend Maeve supports her decision. She plans to run away while the dead of winter will cover her tracks. She decided to be a rogue rather than fulfill her duties.
Kai is a rogue and has lost communication with his wolf . He is alone away from pack and its duties. He is a rogue wolf. The story is all winter vibes. His wolf knows and is trying to guide him. He wolf identifies the strange girl buried in the snow as his mate. Kai isn’t sure what to do with fates sudden decisions. But will he leave her in the snowstorm, or will he protect her from the snowstorm?
Kai decided to help her. Their interactions are interesting as he saves her, but she is skeptical. Of course, it hits close to home as there is a familiar connection between Kai and Liam.
At this point, I think the reader knows more than the naive characters when it comes to the fated mates bond, being rogues, and the pack politics. Liam is a narcissist and runs the pack with an iron fist. Kai is a cinnamon haunted by his previous decisions and current predicament.
When they accept the bond with each other and their task, they finally start to move. But most of the book Is thier own internal battle and a battle of wills between them and the decision they didn’t want to make.
They finally make the choice, and in doing so, the book adds some action to it as they get ready to build a new pack with them in charge instead of Liam , Kia’s brother .
It is meant to have some shock and awe even with the characters been niave, young adult and not fully mature. Unfortunately, the single narrations make it less appealing, but the story is good overall as it is one of an underdog rising up and fighting for others. The mate bond is important to the storyline, but overall, it is more about the pack and the rule of tyrants. Kai fights his inner wolf and his inner thoughts most of the story. Elara goes form a delicate flower to a strong luna to a needy mate all in one book.
