A spicy witch x wolf shifter, only one bed, paranormal romance from bestselling author, Jennifer Chipman.
Who knew the wolf I saved would be my fated mate.
When I found an injured wolf outside the Witches’ Brew, I couldn’t leave him to suffer alone. Taking him home, I nursed him back to health. Little did I know he was actually a wolf shifter, investigating a series of unusual activity happening outside of Pleasant Grove.
I thought I was done with romance, but as I get to know the man behind the wolf, my heart slowly starts to open again. The looks of longing and the sizzling connection between us can’t be denied and the longer he stays with me, the more I start hoping for things I know I shouldn’t.
Only Barrett is keeping secrets of his own, threatening everything I’ve ever known. But when the truth is revealed, what happens when it all comes crashing down on both of us
My Review
I love the dedication at the beginning of the book. The playlist is wonderful to put you in the mood while reading.
Barrett is a wolf shifter. He is injured and stumbles into Pleasant Grove in his shifter form. Looking for his mate, he can smell her but needs her to help him.
Eryne lives in Pleasant Grove, New England. She manages Witches Brew, the coffee shop and bakery in this small town. She is also a witch. I love that she loves to read and make Jewelry. Oh, she has a hedgehog familiar named Nutmeg. She is okay being a slob, by sometimes gets nostalgic about having love in her life. She has the gift of healing with touch. She is tender-hearted toward animals, so when she stumbles upon an injured wolf of course has to help it.
Oh, she and the wolf are sharing a bed, but there’s a secret identity as she doesn’t know his secrets yet, of the fated mates bit, but the only one bed with a big, cuddly, healing wolf sounds so cozy.
What a way to wake up and surprise, he isn’t a wolf anymore. Omg, this is a class act. The banter is fabulous, and this is turning into a meet-cute story. This story may be paranormal, but it is extremely cozy.
Despite their fated mates’ bond, she doesn’t know, and he isn’t very intimate, granted, it is still very early in the story. At least we know his job, and the concerning conflict in the story.
Of course, the first time they get intimate, it is fast and leads to rutting instincts, but this guy has some crazy controls. They get sizzling hot very quickly. But the aftercare is very sweet.
There is a little mystery as to who or what the beast is that feels off the ward’s magic, how the wolf man got in, and, of course, when he will tell her they are mates. I like the very soft suspense that pulls the story along.
I love the cozy comfort of this book set in autumn, but the sizzling scenes are plentiful like a sprinkling of pumpkin spice. Even the knotting is adorably sweet. There is less emotional connection as the readers read through the mating process; instead, it is more action-packed as they fight the issues in the storylines, but not enough that you get any overwhelming feelings.
I find it curious that they are so opposite, like winter and autumn, in the smell descriptions and the grumpy/sunshine as well. Of course, the book ends with an hfn and a tie into the name of the story.
The epilogue is sweet and leads into a fuller life for them as they mature past just the fated mates part of the story. The extended epilogue ends sweetly with them beginning a new stage in their life.
I have enjoyed Jennifer Chipman’s Books in the Witches of Pleasant Grove Book Series. I look forward to reading more. I have reviewed Spookily Yours and can’t wait to read Wickedly Yours.
