Summer reading 2025

I have found I’m reading slower this year than the previous year, like 4-7 days to finish a book, so my summer reading list is not extensive. But I wanted to publish something. Some of the books are books that I have started the series and can’t wait to read the next New Release, and some of them are truly laid-back Beach Romance. If you haven’t noticed, I have been reading more books with Chronic Illness and more edge-of-your-seat Fantasy Reads than my normal Paranormal Romance, so I kind of took a break from my regular genres and branched out.

I try to keep my personal life out of my reviews, but my personal life is impacting my reading time and abilities this year, and what I am finding relatable to me is what I tend to want to read. Of course, sometimes I just want something truly outlandish and so surreal that it spikes my imagination. Some of these books are arcs, but they may fit into the categories above.

So, enough blabbering, below you will find my list of summer reads. If you want to add any of these to your summer TBR, remember they are all linked to Amazon with the photo and book title, but the review is also linked. I’ve decided to add to this list as I read and review the books and publish the review, but the title and blurb are listed below. So keep checking back for new summer reading ideas and to join the fun. Also, you can refer to previous summer reading lists and summer-tagged books from this blog and the many books we honestly review. Here’s to a summer of Sunglasses and Books.

Beach Romance

The Space Between Us by B.K. Stubblefield

The cottage has a history of changing lives.

A booking error at a beachfront cottage.

Read Full Review – The epilogue of this book wraps up beautifully and is very mature. I love how the author keeps the story moving with the careers, travel, and romance as central themes in the story, and yes, I wish there were some random side stops, but it was a beautiful read.  The story overall is very well written, a great summer read with a wonderful career-focused midlife character, mild steamy factor, and a lovely strangers-to-lovers beach contemporary romance.

Love on the Scottish Summer Coast by Beatrice Bradshaw

Returning to her Scottish hometown wasn’t her plan. Neither was falling for her first boyfriend all over again.

Read Full Review – This story is enjoyable, with a great setting, a charming small town, the café, and a strong second-chance storyline. Overall, there is vivid scenery and a nice flow to the storyline.

Stay for Summer by Violet Stafford

The hot new farmhand that just sat down at my dinner table is the definition of why I swore off relationships.

Read Full Review – If your looking for a lovely country romance with new adult storyline about a college girl come home to work the on the farm, find herself and fall in love with just a fling with a hired hand. This story will absolutely be perfect, it is sweet, summery, and steamy.

The Strawberry Patch Pancake House by Laurie Gilmore

Now, Iris finds herself in a whole new world. One where her gorgeous new boss lives right across the hall and likes to cook topless… Keeping everything strictly professional should be easy, right?

Read Full Review – The bonding is slow, and his life in this small town is about as disastrous as his parenting, but things are coming along slowly like a soup in the crock pot.

Chronic Illness

Fatkini: The Fatkini Chronicles: 1 by Monica Ross

The right love doesn’t just fit — it transforms. Because love isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Read Full Review – This book isn’t so much a summer read, but it does have the body positivity I love going into the warmer season. love that the health issues are highlighted but managed in the story; they are mentioned as Graves’ Disease. I also love that this author is a chronic illness warrior herself. This is a must-read and relatable if you have ever dealt with health issues/negativity about your body, and maybe just need that pick-me-up heading into summer. This book is steamy, sexy, and feel-good with cinnamon roll men and a standout female MC.

In a Pickle by Jane Marlowe

Liana unexpectedly finds herself moving back in with her mom at age 26, directionless and learning to manage a chronic disease.

Read Full Review – Overall, I like the story and the body positivity, second-chance romance, chronic illness representation, and sports romance. I love the change in the tropes with the mix of a contemporary romance and sports romance to keep it fresh.

Fantasy Reads

🏴‍☠️ Cursed objects, mate bonds, and a pirate king who steals more than treasure… The Pirate King’s Thief by Alisha Klapheke is a steamy, twisty #fantasyromance adventure you’ll want on your TBR. 🌊✨

New Release

Whispers and Wildfire by Claire Kingsley

A not-your-usual second-chance romance with a fiery heroine and a hero who won’t quench her flames

Read Full Review – I felt like the suspense wasn’t as drawn out in this book, and the emotional rollercoaster was very quick. I like the overall second-chance love story as it is one of my favorite tropes in romance books. Luke was swoony, hot, and maybe a little crazy, but definitely book boyfriend material. The overall storyline was midlife fiction with a little suspense, a lot of romance, and a heaping dose of small-town charm.

A Ransom of Shadow and Souls (The Sundered Fates Book 2) by J.L. Tomlinson

Preorder releases idk but it want to read it

This is the second book in a series I have started, and I truly enjoyed the romantasy in the Sundered Fates Series, so I’m excited for this new release. If you would like to read the review on the first book, A Bargain of Smoke and Vines, you can, but I’m anxiously awaiting diving into this new release.

Review coming soon

The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst

The Enchanted Greenhouse, a cozy fantasy nestled on a far-away island brimming with singing flowers, honey cakes, and honeyed love. This book is out now, and omg I can’t wait to get started.

If you loved The Spellshop, you might also love this book.

Read Full Review – Review coming soon / didn’t read it yet on the list for September

Till Summer Do Us Part by Meghan Quinn

More than happy to take on the job, he teaches Scottie the main rule of improv: always say yes. But the rule backfires during the session when Wilder signs them up for an eight-day summer marriage camp with all of Scottie’s co-workers, where she’ll have to share a cabin with her way-too-handsome fake husband.

Read Full Review – What happens at summer camp stays at summer camp!  But this story isn’t a summer camp for kids; it’s an adult marriage camp in the forest, and our main characters, Scottie and Wilder, are in the predicament they are in because she needed help, he was bored, and they agreed to fake a relationship.

I may have more summer reads that I add as I read them, so check back often, or more new releases that I just can’t resist picking up. I may even find some amazing arc reads that match these categories and decide to add them to this list. But until then, I hope you have a great bookish summer. Please feel free to comment. What are you reading this summer, or looking forward to reading?
