Legacy Academy: Year One
Welcome to Legacy Academy!
There are three rules at this supernatural academy:
# 1—Date your own kind. Mixing with other races is forbidden.
# 2—Never speak or look at The Royals, the powerful princes destined to rule each of their kingdoms.
# 3—Avoid the human world.
Of course, I’ve already broken all the rules.
There’s something different about me.
Something that’s not pure.
I’m not like the other dragon shifters. Maybe it’s because of my human blood.
The Royals have noticed me, and every girl at the Academy hates me.
I never knew the paranormal world existed until one day I have a fight with Mom, I come home to find her gone, and poof, I’m a dragon shifter.
It would have been nice if Mom would have told me. But then again, secrets rule my family…
But now she’s been kidnapped and I have no answers. I have to find her. Some powerful demon is after me, because supposedly I’m a threat to his power. Which is crazy! Has he seen me in class?
Legacy Academy: Year Two
Whew, my first year at the academy is over––what a ride.
I found a magical orb that showed me Mom is alive, but I don’t know where she is. The only way to find her is for me to master my powers, but I’m failing. If I don’t pass, I’ll be kicked out of school.
Without my powers, I won’t be strong enough to defeat the Dark Demons and rescue Mom. My two handsome princes are still with me. They make it hard to stay focused, but I have to, or Mom will slip through my fingers. Unfortunately, the Dark Demons are becoming bolder and if I don’t work fast, I could lose everyone I love.
Legacy Academy: Year Three
I barely survived my second year at Legacy Academy, and I have more crazy powers that are hard to control.
But I have to, right? Unfortunately, the dark demons want me and last time almost got me if it weren’t for Lucien and the Defenders.
To make matters worse, there’s a reason why I’m different from all the other dragons. The Headmaster dropped a bomb that knocked my socks off! More prophecies are coming true, and they’ll change the supernatural world forever.
I’m not sure what’s in store for this coming year, but I do know if I don’t get a handle on my destiny, I could lose my mom forever.
My Review
Legacy Academy: Year One
Raven acts like a teenager who is done with high school and just turning eighteen. Her mom seems to have something to say, but she doesn’t seem to want to listen to it. Her hesitancy seems to keep her from getting her answers as something tragic happens to her mother.
The story is intriguing, but the sounds are annoying. Of course, she gets into the supernatural world. She meets a vampire and finds out he is her mom’s friend. She was raised human, but is she?
This book is predictable. I can already guess her species, but I’ll read on to see if I’m right. Anton is the headmaster of the Legacy Academy. There is not much suspense if we already know who her mother is. I was right; her paranormality is revealed, and well, it really isn’t a surprise.
This story reads like a very new adult. She immediately meets the Mean Girls club and the school’s royals. The Princes are Royalty, with Rhy being a Fae Prince, Xavier being a wolf shifter, Dante being a vampire, Lucien being a demon, and Bo being a dragon shifter.
Raven is unique, not just in her mom’s and dad’s legacy. Even her dragon color is different. A twist definitely adds some interest to the story. The external battles seem to come in many forms but center around a single theme. The internal love triangle and her self-confidence issues arise as she leans into this new paranormal reality.
The end of the story is a little further than where we started. She mostly spends her time learning about her supernatural talents and the demons that haunt her dreams.
I want to read more and see where this goes. The writing had moments of smooth-flowing and enthralling story, and then the written sounds came in, and it got choppy again. But overall, the overarching storyline fascinated me. I’m an avid reader of some tropes and enjoy a story about humans thrust into a paranormal reality.
Legacy Academy: Year Two
This year, she battles the dark demons and the love triangle while she matures her powers. Of course, all the favorite Royal princes and the mean girls are also in it. It is intriguing where the headmaster’s brain and the counterparts in the book are going.
I like the miscommunication with her supernatural powers; they make it much more enjoyable. Interestingly, the love triangle strengthens that direction with more information and a combination of powers. Her connection to Lucien in this story becomes stronger while other connections get severed.
So, she is more than just a dragon shifter. But her powers are still in their infancy, and she must learn them better to fight evil. However, as they make a massive heroine in the story, she is still timid and lacking self-confidence. The Royals and the defenders help. Still, I need to understand how exactly some parts of this book genuinely embrace fiction without explanation.
Legacy Academy: Year Three
This story is filled with a surprise heroine, a badass hero, and a squad of supernatural defenders. Raven is now a heroine, taking on more than she ever thought she would as she develops her supernatural powers and magical connections. I like the steamy interspecies mating in this new adult academy series. It has some edge-of-your-seat action, adventure, and a love triangle. Some revelations and, of course, a single enemy they must defeat. The story itself is interesting as you learn everything Raven can do. She is a very unique character.
So, these books tend to end at one point and pick up at another. As we start the new school year, we start the next story, but it ends with the trials or some action-packed edge-of-your-seat adventure and battle.
Ravens’ last days of summer led her to new clues and a new book to study. However, everything could be more isn’t perfectly perfect than she hoped it would be. Instead, her new year at the academy is filled with more challenges, issues, drama, and course, things trying to hurt her. Did Raven and the Royals beat the odds again this year?
I love that we get more fated mates and inter-species romance. The love triangle that has been a theme through the first few books has now been relocated to the past. This story gets a hint of danger, a touch of suspense, and a little more new adult steamy. The defenders seem to be in most of the story. Yes, I know you’re imagining Marvel, and to be honest, I am, too, but even though the name is cheesy, the use of magic and supernatural power is quite entertaining.
This book gets surreal as a blast from the past sends her into a whole new weariness. I totally understand all the emotions she is feeling. However, this new character should take the book into a new fantasy realm.
The last part of this is action-packed, and some of our side characters are no longer part of the story. But for Raven and Lucien, it is just beginning. This story does end on a cliffhanger.
Unfortunately, as much as you enjoy these books, they are more fictional than romantic. I don’t care what happens next, so I’ll stop reading them and move on to something else.
