Jackson: Montgomery Ranch Cowboy (Montgomery Ranch Cowboys Book 1) by Fiona Wolfe

Rating: 4 out of 5.

My Review

“…. if only she knew the things I could do to her, what I will do to her… but she’ll beg me first.” – Jackson

Laura is visiting her cousin in Wyoming. She is a little out of sorts with the down-home family and loving gestures but her awkward moments are smile-inducing.

Jackson is smokin’ and sweet, a mostly gentlemanly cowboy. This man has me imagining tall, dark, and country. I like that the characters are midlife and mature.

The verbal sparring or banter between Jackson and Laura is fabulous. The chemistry is sizzling with plenty of laughs and heated moments. Is it hot in here or is it just this story?

The opposites attract part of this story, which is apparent in the city girl’s sass and the country man’s charm. Um, things start to get steamy but then clearly there is too much taking during the encounter.

Their chemistry is angsty, sweltering, and slow and they are both too stubborn to admit defeat and embrace the enjoyment.
However, they finally get sizzling hot in cowboy style and goodness that will scorch your Kindle.

Jackson and Laura don’t disappoint. It is very maturely described but not overly done. But there is enough of it to take this story from sizzling to smutty.

But afterward, as she is embracing her new adventure she brings up and hints at a tragedy in her past. We don’t have the full details yet, but I admire how this strong, sassy female MC is confident and positive despite her history. I truly love that about Laura in this story.

Oh, he is dreamy, charming, and rich who wouldn’t love this cowboy when he isn’t being bossy? Laura is one lucky woman, but their relationship is still very new, and they are still in the honeymoon phase. For all Jackson’s greatness, the dom/sub thing in the bedroom is a lot overdone.

I’m glad he finally put a ring on it for as much as he was tapping that, but the pregnancy thing is overdone but thankfully toward the end of this book. I guess Laura is now a country girl.

The book ends sweetly, and I can’t wait to read the epilogue hopefully they are out of the honeymoon phase. I didn’t expect the religious ending to this story with all the smutty scenes, but I enjoyed the second-chance cowboy romance.

This book was a journey from city girl to country and in love as well as meeeting the one who can challenger her. They banter and flirt a lot, and the books get smutty with a lot of intimacy. But the second chance romance with some memorable moments in the countryside is charming. I gave a four-star rating because it was a lot of intimacy, and I preferred the interactions and banter more than the bedroom scenes. However, Jackson is an absolute thirst trap, and his personality is well done. Laura’s story is well-written, and I loved her feisty attitude. Overall, the book was a great read. If you love country romance with hot cowboys, lots of smutty scenes, and a happy-ever-after ending, you will adore this book.
