Royal Pickle by JJ Knight

Rating: 4 out of 5.

He’s a prince who can’t keep his pants on. She writes dirty limericks in a Brooklyn deli. Their spontaneous royal wedding is a match made in mayhem.

I have to find a wife.
And not just any wife.
A love match.

My parents gave me ten years to find a princess on my own, and the deadline has arrived.

I’ve outrun the palace guards for months, but due to an incident in a rooster Speedo that went viral, they have tracked me to America.

I’m not known for my stellar taste in the opposite sex. The last one put my naked pictures on Instagram.

But there is this one girl. I saw her in a New York deli making sandwiches. She helped me escape the photographers.

Smart. Beautiful. Quick-witted.
Yes. I choose her.

Now all I have to do is convince her to marry me.

In the next seven days.

My Review

This story is zany and fun. It features royalty, a marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and a misfit poet. I loved the story’s outlandish antics; it read like a movie. The family, unexpected issues, and happy-ever-after ending were steamy and chuckle-worthy.

I saw this book on Facebook, and it looked like a fabulous romantic comedy. I can’t wait to get into it. I love the blurb and the cover.

Sunny works at her family deli in Brooklyn. She is in midlife, but her day gets totally upturned by a camera-shy Prince. However, she nerds out a little. Her reaction could be more impressive. She is a little odd, but I love that she is an inspiring writer.

Prince Leopold is supposed to find a bride but mostly avoids the ones his family has picked for him. One last bad judgment call, and he finally comes up with a solution to his issue.

Well, that was a spur of the moment but solely works with the marriage of convenience trope, and the royalty one isn’t bad. The story is a whirlwind from New York to Avalonia. I love the start of their chemistry, and her oddities make this read that much more lighthearted.

This book gets steamy as they spend more time together. At first, they are forced to be close, but then they really do want to be in each other’s presence. There are some moments of ridiculousness in the story, but there are also the sweet ones that keep you going. I’m patiently awaiting her family’s arrival.

Things don’t go as planned, which becomes a dramatic end to this book. But I loved the quirky characters and the outlandish adventures.
