Once Upon a Royal Summer by Teri Wilson

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Playing a princess character at a popular Florida theme park, Lacey Pope’s diamond tiara might not be real, but the smiles of the children she meets every day certainly are. She’s happy doing this job, but she struggles to shake the fact that her ex-boyfriend was never impressed with her career choice.

After losing his wife four years ago, Prince Henry Frederick Augustus Ranier Chevalier, the crown prince of Bella-Moritz,has been going through the motions ever since. So fulfilling his young daughter’s birthday wish to behave like a “regular” person, he decides to pretend to be ordinary tourists at an American amusement park. Certainly that would shake up the monotony, even if that “regular” life is only for a day.

But what neither Lacey nor Henry know is that a chance encounter is about to shake up a whole lot more…

My Review

This fairytale romance story with a summer theme has a nice mix of reality and fairytale fantasy. I loved the forced proximity, royalty, and the excellent blend of fairy tale stories. It is like the author took all my favorite parts and combined them into one book. Lacey is a beautiful character with a heart of gold. Her sunshine attitude directly contrasts with Prince Henry’s at first. But by the end of the story, you get to see the change of love and dreams coming true. This book is totally sappy but so sweet.

Lacey is a princess, but not the real kind. For her day job in Florida, she is theme park royalty. However, her day job often stays with her even after hours. Her longtime relationship ends with a fork in the road, and I don’t blame her.

Crown Prince Henry is a single father and heir to the French Riviera’s most glamorous kingdom. However, his young daughter and he seem to be stifled under the weight of their obligations and are getting away for a quick vacation to America.

Their first meeting happens at the Princess Tea Party, and the banter is fun. The story has a nice bit of summer vibes and forced proximity. From theme park royalty to actual Royalty, Lacey gets the invite of a lifetime.

Her trip to this faraway fairytale land is filled with ups and downs and a few comical mishaps, but there is no evil queen, thank goodness. The story ends enchantingly and happily.
