If she isn’t mine in the end, I’ll still be hers.
It’s torture, but it’s true…
My brothers best friend broke my heart, but what happens when his new teammate wants to put it back together?
For years, I’ve dreamt of what college life could bring and while some things changed, there was always one constant.
It didn’t matter how wild I allowed my imagination to run, it always led me to the same place in the end.
It led me to him.
My future was clear, and he was it.
Until suddenly, he wasn’t.
Now there’s a new man in my life, one who isn’t afraid to go after what he wants, and what he wants … is me.
They say first loves last forever.
What about the second?
My Review
This story mixes summer fun, college parties, and profound wisdom. Ari and Chase’s issues seem to do exactly what you expect, but then Noah is a strange enigma. I like the mix of summer romance, sports, and college experiences. The book has a bit of tragedy that will wreck you and leave you confused and anxious. I love the end of this story. It all comes together finally in a happy, steamy ending.
Arianna has a crush on her brother’s best friend. She dreams of spending the summer before college at a beach house with her brother, his friends, and her friend.
Mason is her brother, Cameron is her best friend, Chase is the forbidden fruit, and Brady is the other guy friend in this group of slightly confusing characters.
Oh, this story gets lots of summer vibes and even beach intimacy. The book gets steamy as Ari and Chase finally embrace their budding romance. But they still seem to take steps backward.
Ari grieves what she never had but also learns from her mistakes. Noah is an enigma in the story, and Chase needs to be more communicative.
This story gets sweet and steamy as Ari and Noah forge more than just a friendship, but I love that it started out that way. The author introduces a little more of a love triangle, with past experiences returning to haunt the forward progress. Ari has decided what she wants but needs to learn how to let the past be the past.
Parts of this book wrecked me, but there is a prolonged buildup to these scenes. Of course, this book has to turn tragic; it can’t just be a happy ending with them finding each other again.
The tragic accident is extreme and resets the whole plot line. The rest of the time is heartbreaking and confusing as we discover a brand new Ari. It’s a journey through some nail-biting torture as Ari works to remember the life she had before the tragedy.
The story is heart-wrenching, but it does get better, and sooner they re-discover what was lost and missing and work toward the happy ending. The end of the book is steamy, but I was sad that the family she had wasn’t part of it. The book embraces Ari and Noah, but the other characters fade into the background.
