Flirting with the Quarterback by Olivia Peters

Rating: 4 out of 5.

He’s a smoking hot quarterback and the most eligible bachelor in professional football… and she’s his personal assistant.

Grace

Working for a cocky football legend with rock-hard abs, a chiseled jaw, and bulging biceps was never part of the plan.

But winning over the grumpy quarterback is the key to landing my dream job. All I need to do is uncover his long list of secrets and somehow not fall for him.

The man is hard to trust and impossible to resist.

Camden

I’m exhausted from living two separate lives, and a girlfriend is the last thing I need. But Grace blew through my defenses and staked her claim.

I’m older than her and technically her boss, so there are lines we can’t cross. Except we do—over and over again. Now Grace is officially under my skin and making it her home.

She could break my heart, but it just might be worth it.

My Review

This forced proximity sports romance is a sweet read about unexpected love with an age gap between the bossy, grumpy quarterback and his assigned personal assistant. He has some complications in his life that are very emotional. I liked the grumpy/sunshine, the forbidden love, and the chemistry and sizzling scenes; however, the romance did lack some communication, but it was well written.

Camden’s football dreams seemed to crash as he moved to a no-name team. His head isn’t in the right place, and it is affecting his game. So, the new squad hires him as a personal assistant. His assistant, Grace, seems to leave him speechless and dirty-minded, but it is forbidden.

Grace is determined despite Camden’s grumpy attitude. I love the dual pov and that the characters are more mature in this book. New adult and midlife characters make for excellent fiction.

Despite Camden’s grumpy mess, we do see a sensible guy underneath, but I wonder what skeletons he is hiding. Something is taking his attention away from the game. Grace is funny and snarky, and I love her character.

This story gets sizzling hot off the clock, of course, but it complicates their personal and professional relationships. Camden’s truth is a part of the suspenseful nature of this book. I’m dying to know what it is.

Okay, so his secret isn’t earth-shattering for a professional thirty-year-old previously married football player, but I won’t tell you what it is. However, it is worth reading to find out. Oh, snap, I knew it. This happy, sizzling romance was gonna implode eventually. Now, what will he do?

The hits keep coming with new surprises and more explaining coming into the story, and omg, this will wreck most people. There is a bunch of external drama but not a lot of internal drama. However, the internal scenes are more sizzling hot without communication.

Camden may not be the perfect book boyfriend, but he is perfect for Grace, even with his complications. I love the swoony ending to the story and how far their relationship has come. This book was great if you love a hot quarterback and the sassy woman who brings him to his knees.
