My Review
This story is a sweet romantic suspense with a troublemaking hero, a strong woman, and a beautiful romantic ending. The plot line, filled with intriguing suspense and some red flag issues, was overall enthralling. The Squirrel Protection Squad had to be my favorite. I love the small town, enemies to lovers, and hero characters. This is a sweet read with many character antics and interesting events.
If you remember from a previous book, Zachary is one of the Haven brothers. He is such a playboy.
Marigold is a romantic at heart, and I love her character. Her continued friendship with Annika ties her to the Haven family. However, that brings in the whole sister-best-friend trope into the story.
Brielle is a new character to me. She is young and only in the barely new adult stage, and I don’t know what her story has to do with Zachary and Marigold. But all is revealed in the story.
I think Zach’s tragedy is very relatable. Of course, I feel bad for Zach. And who is this Preston guy?
It is very strange that we dislike the who in the suspense part of the story but not the why or the how. We have to wait for it to unfold to make up our minds. Preston’s true colors and red flags start to show, and he becomes creepy.
This book gets steamy as Zachary finally becomes the hero. It’s super sweet, romantic ending is perfect. Although the story reads as an interconnected standalone, it is just as good as every other story written by Claire Kingsley.
