Prince of Wolves: Book 1 of the Grey Wolves Series by Quinn Loftis

Rating: 4 out of 5.

What would it be like to have a true mate? What if that mate was a werewolf? Three best friends are about to find out.

Jacque Pierce is an ordinary seventeen-year-old girl getting ready to start her senior year of high school. But when a mysterious Romanian exchange student named Fane Lupei moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends soon realize the last few weeks of their summer are about to get a lot more interesting. From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane, she feels an instant connection, a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that flame is actually a Canis Lupus, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate, the other half of his soul. But Fane isn’t the only wolf in town. Just as Fane and Jacque are getting to know each other, a rogue pack appears led by a crazed Alpha. Now, Fane will have to fight, not just for his life, but also for the right to claim Jacque as his own. Females among the Canis Lupus are precious. Their light extinguishes the darkness found within the male werewolves. Fane will need all of Jacque’s love if he has any chance to defeat his foe and earn the right to a life with Jacque by his side.

My Review

Jacque is your typical teenager, intrigued by new people, has a posse of best girlfriends, and is swoony over the foreign exchange student.

Fane is a foreign exchange student who has found his true mate. I love the special supernatural abilities that come with it. He is from a family of werewolves. He is also from Romania; his father is the pack’s Alpha.

The translations in this book are helpful and appreciated. Jacque inner monologue is better than most of the outward commentaries. I like her sass and attitude. This is similar to a human-mate story since Jacque has no clue about the paranormal world.

This book is very swoony, with Fane being so sweet and gentle with Jacque, but they are also very YA. There are some extreme issues for this couple, but they don’t affect their timeline, at least not yet. All the info gets dropped at once, and wow, talk about a human mind-blowing. I find the pet names to be a nuisance, with them periodically changing.

This book gets intense as the life and love situations ramp up. However, despite the tragedy that is the end, it does end well.
The author has a second book in the series with the same couple that gets more details on their mate bond. However, I cant wait to read it. But if this book is on your TBR, it is a good ya paranormal romance with fated mates.

I prefer my main characters to be a little older and not still living at home. But I like that the author kept the steamy scenes in the young adult read territory.
