My Review
The map at the beginning of this book is intriguing. Arwen is a loving daughter who feeds her mother and sister fresh meat. She is eighteen and lives in Cinder Village. She is intelligent and skilled, but her world gets rocked rather quickly.
Our first impression of King Drae could be better, but as time passes, we get past his more rigid exterior shell. The predicaments surrounding the storyline of this book are firmly in fantasy romance fiction. But I love how the King grows us on, all while we enjoy Arwen as a heroine.
The book has truth, lies, and a marriage of convenience. But it turns into so much more. I got so entranced in the story that I forgot to take notes.
I love that Arwen is more than just a contender; she is a heroine, a friend, a soldier, and a woman in love, and makes very mature decisions.
The end of this book is phenomenal, and while this reads as a standalone story, it is part of a series set in this world. I can’t wait to read others. I loved Drae and Arwen’s story.
