Blood Donor (Sacrifice Series Book 1) by Melody Tyden

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Sebastian is a vampire who has it all – wealth, power, and a family of beautiful women he’s turned over the years, devoted to him and to running his business empire. It’s a far cry from where his life started, hundreds of years ago, but nothing he’s built can help him when he develops a sudden intolerance for the one thing he truly needs to survive.

Desperate to find a solution, he crosses paths with Renee, a young human woman with her own difficult past and her own special abilities. She’s dedicated her life to helping those in need, and it’s more than clear to her that Sebastian needs help… but does he deserve it?

As they get to know each other, her blood provides him a temporary reprieve and their undeniable attraction takes them both by surprise, but it might all be for nothing if they can’t get to the root of the problem: who’s after Sebastian and why?

My Review

Sebastian seems to be a vampire and owner and operator of Sacrifice, the famous sex club, and they use this club in Sun City for other things. Sebastian is an old vampire but seems to have a new issue.

Renee is a social worker helping people experiencing poverty and loss in the city. Renee has a unique ability, almost psychic in nature. She can read Auras. I am still determining how it will come into play, but I’m curious to find out. She is relatively young at only 24 and perfectly happy with how she lives her life.

A lot of happenstance begins to bring these two in the same vicinity again, and the capitalization on it was pretty intelligent thinking on Sebastian’s part. I’m waiting for the ball to drop that gets this story out of the acquaintance zone and into more fascinating territory. Although I do love the vampire needing this particular human and the oldest enough to make a decision, characters.

Well, she is more blunt than I expected, but Renee is quite the character. Oh, this book gets steamy as Renee is very much leading their intimacy. I love the supernatural theories in this book regarding Renee and her talents. Oh, this book gets twisted as the past and present collide.

This story ends sweetly, and although it is a great vampire/human supernatural read, I didn’t really connect with the characters. But did enjoy this book for its different storylines and take on the vampire meets human and falls in love. Sebastian and Renee are fantastic mid-life characters with an appropriate story.
